Yep, we're in a better position IMO.

I was just going to say " do we remember who appointed our superb Manager ". AC must have taken note of a good
recommendation for once. !!!!!

If only Papa Cass had come along now and given the BoD £4m and said “Take us back to the FL - that is my dream but l wouldn’t know how to set about it.”
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Cassons tried put a lot in with little return shame that kind of money is not available with the current board and ie we would be in the league in the next 2 years easily with a much better ground

Refreshing to see reasonably nice comments towards the Casson family.
They did leave us hastily and with a few problems but on the whole, without them we may not have had a club and for that I'm truly grateful for.
Its a new era now and the current board are doing things we all wanted the Casson family to do and probably without the failings of the decision making by the Cassons, we may have made the same mistakes again.
I can't knock the Casson family, I got on ok with Andrew even after a shaker and strange first meet.
Mrs Casson was an amazing lady too, kind and caring!
Paul was Paul, a local boy turned into the typical Texan tycoon, slightly eccentric and a my way is the only way attitude! Had he been a local man all his life and made his fortune, I think things would have been done differently.
Anyway, I hope they are now enjoying an abuse free life away from football and I do hope they one day return so we can raise a glass as the current crop take us.up and beyond?

Aye maybe one day Steph and Paul will return as invited guests and hopefully join in some well overdue celebrations.
Best to let bygones be bygones. We all live and learn in life and I’m sure they learnt more than most!
Time to move on though, we are doing fantastically well with the new board and the Trust/supporters involvement. That has to continue by getting as many on board as possible as more investment will be inevitable at some stage.

Pride comes before a fall.
No doubt Paul Cassons intentions were genuine but what he could not commit to was overseeing what was going on at the club on a regular basis and the people he nominated were not able to control what was going on.
I think being a absent owner he will have been ripped off by some people.
He should be thanked also for knocking urinals down back of Wilkie Stand

I think the last 12 months has shown how far we have come and though we do not have the budget we used to have ,we have a more responsive proactive board.
Think Paul Hornby and co deserve a pat on the back.

Struggling with the phrase 'a few problems' but in the main I agree with the pretty generous sentiments above. And fair play to not only Paul Hornby and the rest of the board but to YOU who have stepped up massively, sometimes through the Trust but in plenty of other ways as well. With more control comes responsibility and we will likely need to keep this up. All Barrow, etc

The Casson reign came with a lot of hope & promise but in the end their years of ownership only resulted in holding the club together until the present BoDs and Trust could organise the takeover. I’m struggling to see how that could’ve happened so quickly when the previous BoDs were in charge and were on the absolute edge of pulling out.
Personally I really liked Paul (& Steph) he made plenty of mistakes but I don’t think there can be any doubt that he had the best interests of the club at heart....no one in their right mind would commit to something like that knowing they were going to lose that much money whilst also putting their reputation on the line.
I honestly believe that owning a football club with an old ground that was a money pit and dealing with footballers egos (there were plenty of them), paying ridiculous wages, a needy manager and the day to day running of a club ultimately soured the whole experience for him.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
