January ins and outs

What does everyone think will happen in January? Obviously we have a large core of very good players at present, but are there any areas we could strengthen the squad and any we will loan out to free up space;-
I think once Granite is fit again Elsden will go out on loan again.
I think there is a danger Greaves could be recalled by Sheff United in January, purely because he isn't getting game time (or even a place on the bench), which is a pity as he's a great young player - but with the run we are on and the form everyone else is in getting into the 16 is tough at present (he will probably play in the trophy game at the weekend though).
Other than that short term loans for Waddington and/or Penfold might benefit them.
I'm sure Evatt has a (very small) wish list of targets (and knows who they are) - of which another out and out striker is possibly one - Byron Harrison hasn't scored yet - but does hold the ball up well and is quite good at winning free kicks and throw ins when we a trying to wind the clock down, but isn't an out and out striker any more - maybe someone with pace like Charles Vernam the Grimsby youngster who was on loan at Chorley (and scored against us).

Main headache I would assume would be the availability of Platt for the rest of the season. I bet there’s some frantic work going on behind the scenes on that front.
After that it’ll be a case of being wary of approaches for some of our contracted players who’ve stood out and performed well, Joel being one.

Yes , keep the ship steady - I think keeping Platt is essential- and we have to start taking our chances - other than that all seems well

Hate the thought of any player leaving or being sold but reality is, we have some amazing talent that's surely turned heads.

IE will not leave till he has a proven record, jumping ship before achieving anything would be suicidal for his career. But also and I've said this before, I think he is genuinely loyal and though a big fat would be tempting, for now I think he won't go..

The loaness have done outstanding, platt being for me the jigsaw piece that has galvanized our season so far.

Contracted players again would be down to price, football is a business as we all know but having savvy people running the club and a manager that knows what he wants, unless stupid money is offered (not impossible) again I think our players would trust the manager and want to play football league with IE at the helm at our club.
That's my take and I hope I am right?

Every single player deserves all the attention they are most likely getting and although I wouldn't want any to move on yet, they have earned that right to better their career and move on if they so wish to do..

Despite comments about our squad size I think our main priorities will be retention related. Platt is very important and I'm sure we're already talking to Blackburn about him and White is already beginning to do what Blackburn would want him to be doing for us. So I'd be more confident on retaining White less so on Platt.

Kay, Angus, Hardcastle and Dixon need to be extended as a matter of some priority beyond the end of the season.

Having been brave and rejected a significant offer from Fylde for IE I doubt whether the owners/Bod would entertain anything other than significant bids for any player as long as a play-off place looks likely. The extent to which we might actually increase our squad will need to be assessed at the end of next month. With no transfer window we can be more reactive depending upon injuries suspensions and any squad losses. If we come through this period still firing then you may see some "sensible" additions to sustain a promotion push.

Platt is the key. Otherwise dont panic!

IE has said that Blackburn still have a right of recall in January despite the season long commitment. Or have they already agreed not to do that?

I thought that after the initial loan agreement period expires that clubs usually have an emergency recall notice, as we have with Eldson? Unless of course his loan deal has been renegotiated Stu.

Keeping hold of Platt and White till the end of the season will be the main task. Other than that I could only envisage us signing a striker on loan or perhaps cover for left back/centre back

If IE says there's a break clause in the loan agreement then there probably will be. The fact that it is a season long loan makes things a little better. Again the issue is not that Rovers will simply pull him, its if another League club wants to have him and then is prepared to gazump the terms of our current deal. However, in these circumstances where the deal is season long the views of the player also need to be factored in. So if Matt Platt is happy with us the chances of him leaving are probably a little lower. Unless somebody is prepared to bid for him on a permanent basis of course. There aren't too many out there that would want to or be able to make that investment in January however (I think he's probably a high 5 or possibly even 6 figure asset).

Absolutely fantastic news then. The difference between ‘almost there’ and 3 points. The defender we cried out for after Wrexham, after Stockport, where we all saw the potential. Where we all saw the superb football on display. Absolutely chuffed to bits reading he’s ours for the season!

The 2 Ollys and Matt Platt were all season long loans, so they're all vulnerable to some kind of recall via a 'break clause'.
