Atherton
Match called of at 11.20. flooded pitch
Re: Atherton
Thanks!
Re: Atherton
I guess I should have checked on here first before I set off. Anyway, not a wasted journey as I would have gone for a bike ride anyway - though would have preferred to ride somewhere other than Atherton!
I am dubious about the description "flooded pitch". There was certainly no visible standing water.

Re: Atherton
Tbf, Atherton never said it was ‘flooded’ just that some patches hadn’t drained so well.
On the plus side, another bike ride for you on Tuesday night

Re: Atherton
Big game saturday against Solihull
They drew at home to Darlington today.
That's them off to the north east for a replay Tuesday night.... Hope fatigue sets in....

Re: Atherton
Not good enough, if it was playable at 9.15 that should have been it, the train I was on had quite a few Barrow fan's on and found out just past Carnforth, not much rain in Wigan at 11.00 something not right.
Re: Atherton
I'm sure I read somewhere that for some reason Darlington play their home games on a Wednesday . Only a slight difference but every little helps.whitty1969 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 5:05 pm Big game saturday against Solihull

Re: Atherton
That's even better news. Not good for us, but worse for them....
Re: Atherton
Can understand Atherton wanting this on and doing their utmost to make it happen. But it was always going to be a futile battle in my view as the weather has been grimmer than Grimthorpe!cromwells ghost wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 5:12 pm Not good enough, if it was playable at 9.15 that should have been it, the train I was on had quite a few Barrow fan's on and found out just past Carnforth, not much rain in Wigan at 11.00 something not right.
We go again Tuesday weather permitting, but when it’s dry frost usually takes over this time of the year.
Re: Atherton
On the supporters bus today when we found out just before the Brettargh roundabout to the M6, we turned around and headed back home on the A590.
Personally a bit of standing water adds to the romance and spectacle of a game. I think I'm fed up of this snowflake attitude. In the past it would have taken a tsunami and a swamp not to play.
Only my opinion and I will be back on the bus Tuesday night.
On the bright side we are in the draw for the next round of a cup for a change!

Doesnt the official does a roll the ball test? which is to pass, appreciate a lot of volunteers put the effort in only to be knocked back by a heavy shower, on a more humoured note, Meanwhile in Brazil... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ_M3ORl4mU
