Re: Ian Evatt
Ian Evatt has done a superb job during his time in charge at Barrow, and it won't have gone unnoticed. Supporters of every team that loses their manager - or are struggling in the league - are going to link his name with their club. It's something we'll have to get used to. At some stage he'll be tempted away, that's for sure, but until then he's still got a big work in progress at Holker Street.

Is it !! Can you let me have some names then , could do with taking some money back of the bookies.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 9:55 pm One of the easiest ways to make money gambling is to lay favourites in the next manager markets

He also may get a street named after him !!Jonty wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 8:02 pm Of course he is going to be linked with just about every job from the leagues above,... but I’ll go with the view of a poster on their forum.
“I can't think of any reason at all why Evatt would want to leave a club at the top of the Conference and possibly on the brink of a return to the football league after so many years (which would make him a legend forever in the town) and with a new go ahead consortium in charge to come to Grimsby Town possibly on the brink of swapping places with Barrow and run by a board who are totally clueless and lacking ambition”.

The voice of reason as usual Steelworks. Was inevitable after the Fylde rejection that the next interested suitor would probably be from the lower reaches of L2. And as a gnarled old business consultant once told me "never start a new project until you've finished delivering the current one. It never works out for you in the long run".Steelworks End wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 11:41 pm Ian Evatt has done a superb job during his time in charge at Barrow, and it won't have gone unnoticed. Re: Ian Evatt
Obviously that advice never reaches the overwhelming majority of football managers as virtually all of them move on when they get better offers and a large number flounder when they do so!Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 11:24 amThe voice of reason as usual Steelworks. Re: Ian Evatt
I would guesstimate IE is on around £75k a year on his new contract or maybe more as it’s well rumoured Fylde offered in the region of 100k for him,now assuming IE has 2.5 years left on his contract that would equate to a buy out of around £225k pounds( if he is on more than that then it’s obviously more),a new club would have to at least match or more than likely enhance his wage to tempt him to leave so you would be looking at an immediate outlay of £325000 to secure IE for just one season.
Can’t see many league clubs risking that kind of money but if IE takes us up his value will double or more,I really do think Ian will become a fantastic manager at a high level as he’s one in a million and is proving his worth with his limited budgets. His management skills and the way he has the team playing are testament to his ambition and experience at the highest level.
We won’t keep him for long but whilst he’s here we really need to back the bloke and the club and give this thing we have going one bloody big push as it’s our best opportunity to get back into the league in 50 years.
Fantastic work by the board and support staff hasn’t gone in noticed,we are all in this together and I can’t see IE going anywhere until he finishes the job he promised to do.

You're not allowing for any clauses in his contract that would allow him to leave for a lower fee.Ziggerzagger wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 7:01 pm I would guesstimate IE is on around £75k a year on his new contract or maybe more as it’s well rumoured Fylde offered in the region of 100k for him,now assuming IE has 2.5 years left on his contract that would equate to a buy out of around £225k pounds( if he is on more than that then it’s obviously more),a new club would have to at least match or more than likely enhance his wage to tempt him to leave so you would be looking at an immediate outlay of £325000 to secure IE for just one season.

Re: Ian Evatt
Like people keep saying, myself included I just can’t see him leaving right now. Not for a lowly division two team. He’s enjoying his time here. He’ll see the season out at least. He wants promotion with Barrow.
Re: Ian Evatt
Just voted on the Grimsby Telegraph poll.
Do you want Evatt as the next Grimsby manager?
A definite NO from me

Re: Ian Evatt
Will you put this Evatt to Grimsby nonsense in the bin please. He has committed to Barrow and you only have to listen to his interviews to hear the passion he has to achieve the success here. It goes beyond what happens on the pitch, it’s everything- what we are building as a club. Is that there at Grimsby? Right now? No
