in future debates it would always be used against us as not being promoted properly. in through the back door etc.Opposing fans never need much of an excuse to dispute things.

Re: Champions
It makes sense to have no relegation this year and just promotions with an extended Premier league next season and the top two from each league going up.. Be a shame but with what is happening now and the peak not for a while yet be a disaster if this season was just wiped off

Re: Champions
I agree. It doesn't matter at all. In fact, if no more matches are played Barrow would be the obvious candidate to replace Bury either based on the fact that we have the most points or even on a points per match average which I believe would be the fairest way. I really can't see any way that the EFL wouldn't want to add an extra team to replace Bury in any eventuality.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:30 pmWhilst I hope it doesn’t happen - why does it matter what other fans think ?Holkerbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:21 pm

Re: Champions
Playing devils advocate, I wonder how Harrogate would feel about us being crowned champions if the season isn't finished. In their eyes, they've been slowly closing the gap. I really hope we aren't kept in the dark for too long and as much as health does come first I would be absolutely gutted if this season was scrappedrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:54 pmI agree. The problem is, there isn't a perfect solution and some teams and their fans are going to feel they were hard done by. So that could easily include us. Very hard done by.

Re: Champions
They probably wouldn't be very happy. However, if Bury are replaced there is only one way to do it and has to be either the team with the most points or the team with the best points average which is what I believe to be the fairest method. A few teams might have valid complaints such as that their remaining fixtures are against teams nearer the bottom of the league or their remaining games are more at home than away but there a method has to be found and it can only be the team currently with the best points average IMO.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 1:00 pmPlaying devils advocate, I wonder how Harrogate would feel about us being crowned champions if the season isn't finished. On the whole I agree with you and logically that makes sense. I'm just wondering if it makes MORE sense because I'm a Barrow fan haharussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 1:09 pmThey probably wouldn't be very happy. No one remembers loosers.
Look how Hereford are remembered for knocking out Newcastle in the FA cup and I bet no one knows the state of them know.

Even if it is resumed in June, how do you keep players match fit, all momentum is gone. It would be very difficult to pick it up again in June.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:05 pm Karen Brady wants the season written off...daft cow!
Think it will be goodbye to the 2019/20 season.

For the the reason this generation still discusses our relegation out of the football league. Different opinions and different reasons.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:30 pmWhilst I hope it doesn’t happen - why does it matter what other fans think ?Holkerbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:21 pm

We have waited 48 years for this moment and it would have been just if it had been straight forward that's all. in the passage of time nothing ever gets evaluated clear cut on the circumstances.

Re: Champions
I think the season needs to be completed somehow. How about this:
Review situation on 3rd April (only that date because EFL have stated it).
If ok, carry on with scheduled fixtures and extend the season for a couple of weeks to complete the postponed fixtures.
If things are worse, delay completion of season until July.
Complete the season in July and August.
Give players a break and start new season from October, to finish end of May 2021.
Not sure how to work out finances and players' contracts though!

Re: Champions
The chances of completing the season are becoming increasingly slimmer by the day. The FL need to replace Bury regardless so the common sense approach would be to confirm us as Champions so we can collectively plan for next season accordingly. I personally couldn’t care less of the circumstances of promotion or what other clubs opinions are.

Aye, Bury are our ace card hopefully.
It's the End of the World AGM Cup. Alty will end up the Champions League

That's because you are thinking in the here and now. What about in future when our fans are explaining how we were accepted into the football league and be accused of cheating our way in because that's how it will be twisted.BoltonBlue wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 2:24 pm The chances of completing the season are becoming increasingly slimmer by the day. Fair enough - although I suspect Barrow getting promoted without the season being played in full will be a very minor footnote in the 2020 yearbook which will simply be remembered for corona impacts medically and financiallyHolkerbird wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 1:35 pmFor the the reason this generation still discusses our relegation out of the football league. Hopefully the matter will be irrelevant and the season gets finished and everyone gets to celebrate properly
Some people really do need to think a bit more before they post things on here
