Agreed, we couldn’t survive on the income of 4 home games between now and the April 2021, as it’s already been pointed out, the club are going to lose 5k a week after the 4th of May this yearbarrowfan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 10:03 amThat's a sure-fire way to see most clubs go to the wall!Mr Zebedee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 7:52 am
2) If the situation is still ongoing (worst case scenario is that this could be up to a year), wait as long as necessary before completing this season and scrap the 2020-2021 season

They will have to keep paying them if the players have a contract, which most do - so wages going out and no gate money coming in spells bankruptcy for most.Mr Zebedee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:13 pmOnly if they keep paying ridiculous over-inflated wages to their players

At least one good thing has come out of this crisis - the Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled.

Re: Corona
Unbelievable, masses of people gathering in parks, tourist areas, groups of young teenagers wandering around town, ten young lads playing football in the playing fields by my house, hundreds of bikers converging at Devils Bridge, idiots on the news exercising on a park “gym” area saying they’re safe because they’re out in fresh air - despite touching the same bars/handles and being about a foot apart. Twenty confirmed cases in Barrow, one possibly two deaths at FGH.
People stockpiling food and bloody toilet rolls, depriving the old and NHS workers etc of getting the basics.
At what point will we learn?
The government have treat us like responsible educated people so far, it’s obviously not working.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Big mistake to treat a sizeable minority as responsible, I'm afraid. Compulsion and rationing should have been the way much earlier and would have saved countless lives!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 7:01 pm Unbelievable, masses of people gathering in parks, tourist areas, groups of young teenagers wandering around town, ten young lads playing football in the playing fields by my house, hundreds of bikers converging at Devils Bridge, idiots on the news exercising on a park “gym” area saying they’re safe because they’re out in fresh air - despite touching the same bars/handles and being about a foot apart. Re: Corona
Is that 5k a week taking into account that 80% of all salaries up to a maximum of £2500 a month can be claimed from the Government?

Re: Corona
Will the 80% of all salaries you can claim to the government apply to players and staff at Barrow AFC, an employee is an individual employed under a contract of employment,so is there anyone from the Club who can confirm we will be applying if we can be awarded it, it will make the enforced break easier to manager.

Re: Corona
The 80% is for employees who have been laid off - as the players are under football contracts of employment which guarantee that they have to be paid even if the club is in financial difficulties (I know this from experience in 1999) I doubt they could be considered as Furloughed and therefore it could be very difficult to claim the 80% grantrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 7:31 pm Is that 5k a week taking into account that 80% of all salaries up to a maximum of £2500 a month can be claimed from the Government?

80% of salaries who have been kept on by employers, according to the bbc.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 9:20 pmThe 80% is for employees who have been laid off - as the players are under football contracts of employment which guarantee that they have to be paid even if the club is in financial difficulties (I know this from experience in 1999) I doubt they could be considered as Furloughed and therefore it could be very difficult to claim the 80% grantrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 7:31 pm Is that 5k a week taking into account that 80% of all salaries up to a maximum of £2500 a month can be claimed from the Government?

Re: Corona
It is for those kept on but who are treated as 'Furloughed' ie Laid off but still on the books. As the players have contracts which I suspect dont allow them to be laid off or have wages reduced I dont think it will cover them.Cringle wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:16 am80% of salaries who have been kept on by employers, according to the bbc.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 9:20 pm

The 80% is not just a grant to pay 'everyone's' wages - it is to keep a workforce on the books even when they have no work and would otherwise have been finished.

Re: Corona
That isn’t the case. The 80% is for those who would have been laid off, in order to be retained as employed. As long at they are on pay as you earn, taxation.
