Come on everyone why the pessimism.For someone who saw Barrow get unjustly voted out of the Football League I think by the casting vote of Newcastle United it would be the righting of a wrong that should never have happened. Clubs get money through the promotion system, money they will be very reluctant to give up,also the league above ours is short of one team, so if Barrow were to be admitted it would level things up again
Barrow have been playing the most attractive football I have seen in a long time .One of the reasons they didn't win some of their most recent games was because of the blatant fouls that went unpunished such as grabbing the players from behind pushing them in the back We have a very talented team that could go far as they mature and promotion is something they deserve so get behind Ian Evatt and the lads using all social media to push their case so it becomes an unstoppable force.

Another announcement from the NL of absolute nothingness for an indefinite period.

Technically by suspending the NL season indefinitely, the NL have actually made themselves temporarily at least, redundant. Since you cant have a new season until the previous season is formally concluded they've put themselves into limbo. A non-decision process designed to self-protect. This bodes very poorly for any idea that the NL will take ownership of its member clubs needs going forward.

As far as the promotion/relegation issue is concerned this announcement means absolutely nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada. It confirms what we knew already that the NL will only react once the EFL makes a decision. This statement also suggests that the decision it does eventually make will be the same as the EFL whether this involves Promotion/Relegation or not.

So now we know. No point looking to the NL for guidance. The decision will come from the EFL and be adopted and for the same reasons the EFL will fall in line with the Premiership. So those who claimed that whether Liverpool are ultimately named Champions in the Prem had absolutely nothing to do with us are likely to be dead wrong.

The only new thing that could possibly be emerging from this statement is an acceptance that the shape of the Leagues as we have come to know them via the Pyramid may now be increasingly under threat and it is looking possible (though perhaps not yet probable) that more radical decisions may have to be taken to accommodate the financial fallout from Coronavirus. Dont necessarily expect an obvious outcome. Division 2 North & South anybody?

Interesting idea SB. As you say, the NL statement is not helpful at all, except confirmation that they haven't a clue what to do and will wait for decisions to be taken elsewhere. I can see this all rumbling on until June before we know what we will be doing next season. Meanwhile, all Ian Evatt's and the Board's plans are on ice.

The first vote was tied at 26 votes each. The Chairman could have made a casting vote, but he chose to hold a second ballot which Barrow lost by three votes.

Thanks Skipper, forgot I had seen it before. It's my age. My birthday today, and I should have been going for a game of bowls in Harrogate this afternoon followed by a pizza and beer with my brother, and then to the match. However, at least I am now the proud owner of a Barrow shirt! Just need a reason to wear it now.

There is a story (which may be apocryphal) that the FL regulations stated that in the event of a tie the incumbent club would retain their place in the League - but no-one realised this at the time so a second vote was held. Can anyone confirm this?

Another meeting today with EFL/Prem. If they make a decision today with the remainder of the season/relegation/promotion, I would expect NFL to follow. But it wouldn't surprise me if there needs to be more than one meeting.

Thanks for the correction on the voting - you are right - it was 29-20.
I too have heard about the incumbent club retaining their membership, but as you say, it could be apocryphal.
The stark truth is that we are where we are with everything up in the air. For me it's still points per game which should be used and I've read that is gaining support.
