Re: Corona
LONDON'S Excel Centre will become a 4,000-bed field hospital in a bid to deal with the coronavirus crisis.
The massive conference centre is being transformed by the Army with military and civilian medics expected to help deal with the swell in patient numbers.
It's expected to be ready NEXT WEEK!
Well done to all concerned!

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

You might not of said it but obviously you were thinking it subliminally, whilst stood on a ladder to chat over your six foot fencespirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 5:52 pmI never said that, it was someone else....what are you on about?

Re: Corona
In law, a players contract is the same as anyone else on PAYE the only difference is in relation to how that contract relates to the FA and the relevant league's rules re registration etc.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:57 pmI agree - but my point is that I don't think the players could have been seen to have been laid off as they are under and FA contract of employment for a specific period of time (FA contracts are very difficult to break). Therefore to say they are Furloughed in this respect is pushing the boundaries of what the scheme was intended to be used for.mightywhite wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:06 pm That isn’t the case. The 80% is for those who would have been laid off, in order to be retained as employed. As long at they are on pay as you earn, taxation.
There are plenty of scenarios where contracts get cancelled on both sides for instance if a club goes into admin the player is only entitled to claim what he has earned to date [ ie not the value of the remaining contract. ] and then you have the 14 day rule [ where a player is entitled to have the contract null and voided once his wages are not paid 14 days beyond the date on which they were due.

I suppose this is one way to deal with it - from The Daily Star :
A Premier League footballer allegedly slept with his wife's sister - after boredom from coronavirus isolation took over.
The unnamed star is alleged to have got 'wrecked' in an attempt to cope with the general lack of direction in his life after sport was cancelled by the virus.

When it is over, and it will end what is to stop it happening again if nothing is in place to prevent people eating diseased animals as a sort of medicine. What else is happening in the world besides this virus ?

Re: Corona
Maximum diplomatic and economic pressure must be applied to China to force them to shut down wet markets and outlaw consumption of exotic species that may be carriers of similar diseases. Further to that, western governments should reconsider the wisdom of relying on a single country for strategically important industries when it makes itself so susceptible to shutdowns due to avoidable epidemics. We should consider rebuilding our own industries instead of rewarding a totalitarian regime for the exploitation of its people.Cromwell58 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:48 am When it is over, and it will end what is to stop it happening again if nothing is in place to prevent people eating diseased animals as a sort of medicine. Re: Corona
the latest theory is that it didn't even start in China - not that you will see that in the UK press....
Doctors in the north of Italy were apparently reporting unusual unexpected pneumonia like deaths in early November a full month before Wuhan.
throwing insults at other countries doesn't help anyone.

It’s never a good idea to stack different species of animals in close proximity were they can defecate and urinate on each other and spread disease.
Hygiene is impossible to maintain if live animals are being kept in cramped conditions and then butchered on the same site.

It did start in China but the authorities suppressed the news until it spread so far they couldn't keep it quiet. I agree mud slinging will not help anyone. It's here now and we have to deal with itchipmunx wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:58 am the latest theory is that it didn't even start in China - not that you will see that in the UK press....
