Re: Decisions being made
Nobody on here knows what the polls/questions will be if the national league clubs vote to end the season so people who are saying it'll be null and void are just assuming that this will be the case !

Re: Decisions being made
As per previous contributions, the EFL can choose to elect a new member under its own rules. It is one short and can make up the number without having to ask he FA and if it were so minded it could invite any team that has been approved for EFL membership. This would include us but would not solely mean us.
As has been pointed out before the spare place is actually in Div 1, so the EFL would have to engineer a solution that brought it back to a full compliment and then supplement Div 2, but if its members so wish then it can do this.
I've never really thought we'd end up been given the title - too many vested interests. The season is too far gone and I suspect those that aren't voting to save themselves are too weary. I've always thought (as I think does Ian Evatt) that the most likely way into League 2 for next season is if we are voted in. I'm not expecting this to happen but it most certainly could.
The NL members will prove themselves a bunch of turkey and will not vote for Xmas - though I note the NLN and NLS are to be asked first which itself might produce a split result. I'm more interested in what Rick Parry and the FA are doing.

Re: Decisions being made
They've had the first tranche that was money already with the FL. It appears the money from the PL is now with them but apparently they're hanging on to it for as long as they can so as clubs don't get to spend it before they're due to pay out wages at the end of the month.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 2:39 pm Not sure if it’s the same in the National League but football league clubs haven’t had their advanced payments yet according to Accrington’s owner
And on that subject the NL share of it is 2.1 million apparently

Re: Decisions being made
If this current situation lasts months as expected then the EFL will need more than 1 team to make the numbers up.
Oldham and Macclesfield are just 2 of many clubs in the mire in the EFL

We can wave goodbye to League football next season I think, unfortunately.

All hope isn't lost we still have a chance if they decide on points per game average or we get invited

Why? What are you basing that on other than you're pessimism.

Re: Decisions being made
Surely there are only three choices here. All could have a positive outcome for Barrow.
- Null and void season.
- Finalise table as stands.
- Finalise table based upon PPG

Re: Decisions being made
As I understand it the vote will have 3 options null and void, PPG or as it stands it will have no effect whatsoever on Barrow And as the FL have made it clear they intend hell and high water to finish their leagues including the playoffs they will require two clubs to bring their leagues up to strength.
Worst case scenario is that the NL go for null and void and the FL don't manage to finish the season they will still require one club but that club will be admitted by invitation and not by promotion from what i.m told there is a subsection in the FL rules and basically they would have to have a very good reason to look beyond the highest-ranked NL club particularly in light of the fact that they have already approved the ground and the financial side.
It was suggested earlier in the week that there may be problems with the Harrogate ground has anyone else heard anything about that ? [ as i understand that they may have to swap the home and away ends round as the new terrace needs to share facilities with the end ] I would imagine it would be them who would likely come under threat and it doesn't take a genius to work out who would be shouting the loudest for an alternative solution.

They have a 3G pitch put they could rip that up and replace in time for a new season.NORTHERNSOUL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:02 pmAs I understand it the vote will have 3 options null and void, PPG or as it stands it will have no effect whatsoever on Barrow And as the FL have made it clear they intend hell and high water to finish their leagues including the playoffs they will require two clubs to bring their leagues up to strength.

Re: Decisions being made
Depending on what size majority is needed to pass it I think we can all at least agree the first vote will certainly go the way of deciding the season finishes now; can’t see any reason a majority of clubs would rather we are left in limbo

Re: Decisions being made
A Winding up order for non payment of outstanding debts at Macclesfield has been adjourned to September 11th. However, Macclesfield are now facing multiple additional FA/EFL charges related to non-payment of debts and (repeated) non-payment of wages. Likelihood would be a further points deduction rather than expulsion but could find themselves bottom at the end of the season.whitty1969 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 8:32 pm If this current situation lasts months as expected then the EFL will need more than 1 team to make the numbers up.

Situation at Oldham is mind-bogglingly complex with faction pitted against faction, unpaid payments for a new stand triggering calls for administration by a stakeholder who is actually seeking control of the club etc. Debts being shifted to places where they cant be found. Creative accounting practices. Seems no one is quite sure who owns what - and we've heard that before. But despite this I dont think the club is likely to go to the wall.
Whether they survive or not there will be some pretty shaky clubs in L2 next season.

Re: Decisions being made
If it comes down to an ‘invitation’ it will be Barrow.
Imagine the shitstorm if the EFL took another club instead.
