If that's the case many of them will go to the wall, with fixed costs such as wages to be met, and their main source of income not there.Salthouse Bridge wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:28 pm Interesting read on BBC sports says there's a possibility of no non-league football for the rest of the year,,![]()

We are about a year off a vaccine, and we are told the virus is likely to peaK again in the autumn.
The government won't allow large gatherings of spectators for well into 2021.

Yes but the talk is of Playing behind closed doors. the top clubs will still take some income from televising the matches, but if we play behind closed doors there will be no income for us.PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 9:36 pmGarbage germany back playing again in may our lot meeting next week for sport that can resumeHitthebar22 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 8:52 pm

Re: Decisions being made
Any League that cannot play another game until next year apart from the Premiership would probably be unable to function when the time came.
We talk about this possibility like it were another option when in fact it would be the footballing equivalent of Armageddon. For a good reason we've been fixated on the present in the last four weeks. The problem with talking about football in the future is that it is just that - talk. Usually from those that have an angle to pursue or just want to talk. When push comes to shove then solutions tend to present themselves.

OK. Hope it doesn't happen, but tell us why it's garbage - when and why will football start up again?PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 9:36 pmGarbage germany back playing again in may our lot meeting next week for sport that can resumeHitthebar22 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 8:52 pm

Re: Decisions being made
I hope this doesn't sound rude, but if your first para is accurate, no **** Sherlock. Time for the PL to show understanding and benevolence to the lower leagues. Will it happen? Unlikely.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 11:29 pm Any League that cannot play another game until next year apart from the Premiership would probably be unable to function when the time came.

The second para is the same sentiment - I'm guilty of "just talk", as we all are. There are very few options sadly. Our club has strongly hinted how it can self sustain when a season is up and running. The dangers when things are uncertain are obvious. The current situation is unique, so we need strong leadership and decisions. Scotland has done it (shame for Patrick Thistle) and the leagues below have as well (shame for e.g. Workington and Liverpool South). We need to plan for the future, rather than just hope it will all sort out. As said before, hope is never a strategy. Unfortunately too much money at stake at the top end for them to bother too much with the likes us.
Re: Decisions being made
Forgive me if this question has already been covered in a previous article, but what criteria has been given to the National league teams to enable a decision to be achieved and when o’when will we be put out of our misery.
After fifty six years of following Barrow football l don’t expect anything to be easy but this wait is driving me to distraction and the champagne in the fridge needs drinking.
Before the criticism comes raining in, no it’s the most important thing at present but it’s something to look forward to, in these very worrying times. Keep safe everybody.

Re: Decisions being made
Be a couple of weeks
The conference north and south will be decided first - think their clubs are voting on Tuesday - once their league is done they then move on to the National League itself

Re: Decisions being made
How does the Non-League Paper, of all publications, still call us AFC Barrow???
Re: Decisions being made
The way this evil [SwearFilter] thing is taking over the world, we'll soon start forgetting about next season too. Feels that way to me.

It's been stated that pubs are unlikely to open before Christmas, so there's the guide regarding social distancing.

Re: Decisions being made
We probably started watching around the same time then. If (like everyone is saying), Barrow deserve to go up, and eventually the vote from the Nl is that they will, that isn't the end of it at all. We'll only go up if the EFL do not void their season and there is space (with Stevenage going down, and perhaps one other). This ignores the Bury factor, which is a different consideration. The trouble is no one knows when this virus will cease to be a threat. If it goes on and on more and more clubs will sadly cease to be sustainable without help from those who can afford it (PL).45YEARS+ wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 7:35 am Forgive me if this question has already been covered in a previous article, but what criteria has been given to the National league teams to enable a decision to be achieved and when o’when will we be put out of our misery.
