Not many dependable facts available yet about promotion from any source, so very guarded speculation has its place and is something to ponder.
Here is a fact though....nearly 50,000 views of this thread in only just over a month.

Here is a fact though....nearly 50,000 views of this thread in only just over a month.

Think we might ultimately have enough contributions eventually to publish this "journey" and turn it into a BAFC classic. We could call it "The Agony and the Ecstasy" if it turns out well or "Descent into the Abyss" if it doesn't. Intro by Ian Evatt. Possibly even a three part Channel 5 dramatization with each us being played by a well known actor. It could be filmed in lockdown conditions. Sounds perfect to me.

National League clubs have until midday tomorrow to give their views on the feasibility of the playoffs.

Never realised that each team received a quantifiable benefit from the play-offs.

So the NL is saying that if you dont support play-offs it's going to cost you all - probably. That would suggest to me that the vote in favour of play-offs is a no brainer. Many wont have strong views on the matter and they will almost certainly vote with their wallets. Still not sure where that leaves us though.

I expect that they would have to decide league positions and therefore play-off positions on a PPG or final positions which would leave us as champions and therefore not included in the playoffs. Could be interesting for teams who would be in the playoffs under one system and out of them in another!

I like the idea of the promotion no relegation idea which will mean 22 clubs in the PL. Problem is how do you reduce that in 2021/22. I cannot see PL clubs voting for 5 teams or even 4 teams relegated. Likewise the same to balance the Championship will mean 6 teams relegated the year after and so on.

I think they might well vote for 4 teams down from the Prem in 2021 especially if those teams that would otherwise be relegated this season are reprieved. Voiding the Prem looks unlikely finish or no finish. That would means tens of millions of additional revenue for next season for the likes of Norwich, West Ham and Watford. Other clubs in danger of relegation - there are a few - would also take comfort in this. Plus the chance to redeem yourself the following season. What's not to like? It would more of a pain for the bigger clubs having to play more games but Leeds coming back into the Prem would sell a lot of tickets in Liverpool and Manchester (assuming that is that anybody could attend the games).

I wish they would put this nonsense about trying to complete playoffs and FA Trophy games and all this to bed once and for all and just gracefully accept that football can only start again when its properly safe to do so and that will probably be many more months off yet.

This Fifa rep talking a bit of sense from a medical perspective. Yet, no doubt some will still want to plough on.

I agree with this totally. From our league up to the PL - put the arrogance to bed (as though there is something really special about football), and just accept that there is something much more important hovering over every one of us - show some humility and respect.

My view is that it would be very unfair to expect teams to compete in playoffs for a promotion place after such a long layoff. Normal playoffs are simply an extension of a team's season, so squad is the same and players are match fit. Playing again after 2 or 3 months, or more, without team training would make it a lottery, even if all squad members remained.

In addition, I can't see spectators being allowed into football grounds for several months yet, so playing behind closed doors would add to the lottery.
