Play offs taken place is just not going to happen, Premier league won't happen games will get called off as soon as a player tests positive.
The survival of the club is more important but we should be going in league 2 anything else will be very disappointing

Like that quote Pedro and it sums up the current situation pretty well. Truth is that whilst in lockdown it actually has become more difficult for thieves, time is one thing that can be stolen. Difficult decisions are not made today because tomorrow will be very much the same.

Re: Decisions being made
Currently we have a mass of time. Generally there is no rush for anything, other than to provide a vaccine. However it would help every club, particularly in the lower leagues, to settle the outstanding promotion/relegation issues in very timely fashion. It would at least give way to planning, and in our case, for our board and manager to consider how to spend a percentage of £1.2m, rather than £85k. On the face of it a mouth watering prospect. Seeing the results of that on the pitch is along way off; it is only my opinion, but I don't see any football with spectators until 2021 at the earliest.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 10:30 amLike that quote Pedro and it sums up the current situation pretty well. Re: Decisions being made
Organisations like the NL are very rules based and therefore perform poorly when there are no rules to fall back on. It could have saved itself all of this pain if had simply had a rule stating what would happen if the season could not be completed. Something along the lines of - if at the time of disruption more than 2/3 of scheduled games had been played a result to the season would be declared based on current positions/PPG. If less than 2/3 the season would be voided.
The argument that this could not be foreseen is total cr*p. Manufacturing and Financial Services businesses generally have a disaster recovery "red book" which outlines what will happen in the event of a total disruption to their business. If they dont their staff are usually the first to become unemployed and their business the first to fail.
In the absence of a plan the NL are wandering around in the dark, grabbing at procedures and protocols and trying desperately to make them fit. Time has become their friend allowing them to appear in control whilst in reality staggering around like a blind man trying to find a black cat in a pitch black hole at night.

Love the quote Pedro. Your dad was channelling a 17th century dramatist Edward Young. [SwearFilter] used it in David Copperfield. Cannae beat Google.
Re: Decisions being made
Spot on SB, though this 'omission' is not confined to our level of the game. Not quite the same but a few years back I worked at the HQ of a major retail organisation in Manchester. One day staff were bussed to the middle of nowhere near Wakefield to a facility that on the outside resembled a deserted industrial unit. Inside it was set up with desks, computer stations etc and we were told that in the event of a major incident shutting down the Manchester operation this was where we would keep the business running. Never thankfully happened but its called forward thinking. Hopefully 'rules' will be amended to avoid this shambles in the future but I won't hold my breath.

I'm sort of ok with this SB, but not quite. There is an element of hindsight about it, which will happen following any unique event (just wait for the public enquiry when the virus is no longer a threat).Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 11:50 am Organisations like the NL are very rules based and therefore perform poorly when there are no rules to fall back on. The problem for the NL is they don't yet know what EFL are doing, so NL suggesting they will tell us on Tuesday could cause a significant difficulty. It's a point I made on here a while back. If NL say e.g. "Barrow up with Harrogate and Notts County", then 3 days later EFL say "everything declared void from our perspective, and so no promotion or relegation and the teams you have said are coming up will not be doing so", there is an immediate problem.
This of course ignores the Bury factor where obviously different considerations apply.
At the bottom of NL, NLN & S there doesn't look like there will be any relegation, as anything and everything below has been declared void, so no teams (e.g. Workington) coming up, and so Bradford PA, Blythe S, Braintree and Hungerford not going anywhere.
Put simply, as an example, if NL say 3 teams coming up, EFL then say oh no they are not, or conversely NL say only one team going up, and EFL say actually we want/need 3, it is a hopeless situation. Seems to me that they need to work together simultaneously to avoid any risk. The knock on effect does not immediately affect us - e.g what happens re Leeds and West Brom and others, but it might. The arrogance of the Premier League still hangs over us.

Re: Decisions being made
The EFL, though, has given guidance as to how the NL should structure its thinking. They have said, apparently, that the NL should plan for play-offs under the existing regulations, i.e. 2nd to 7th. That was the guidance sent to Tier 5/7 clubs to help guide their thinking in last week's consultation. What the NL has to do therefore is to determine who are champions and who will be involved in the play-offs and how they would take place should they be required.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 1:23 pm The problem for the NL is they don't yet know what EFL are doing, so NL suggesting they will tell us on Tuesday could cause a significant difficulty. It would be reasonable to assume (yeah, OK) that the champions will be invited to take the Bury vacancy which Adam says the EFL has guaranteed to fill.
It all comes 'round again.
Re: Decisions being made
Good points Hitthebar32 and Nigel. Perhaps the FL and NL are already working together, have some sort of plan and will jointly unveil it at some point when clubs finally accept that completion of (at least) L1 and L2 and NL playoffs is no longer a viable option this season.
(Workington are at the eighth tier, not seventh, incidentally)

I just think if we knew where we were going we can plan ,not sure if we will keep all the players but we could reduce costs by letting those go that we are not.
I am also worried we will get stitched up.
I will never forget buying the Mail as a apprentice on the way home to see how we got on in the re election vote omly to see in the stop press we were out of the league.

Re: Decisions being made
Does anyone really think we will get a definite decision on Tuesday? I fully except them to just say play offs aren’t feasible, we will meet further to decide how to settle the season.......and on and on until the EFL decide what to do

"Having canvassed our members there was a strongly held view that the season should be voided without promotion or relegation. However, in view of the situation that may pertain in the EFL subject to their current commitment to completing the season it is accepted that promotion from the NL to the EFL may be required if only to ensure that numbers in the EFL remain balanced for 2021."
So it would not surprise me if what you got this week was a confirmation that there'll be no relegation, together with ideas for how you might solve the promotion issue which might differ depending upon how many teams need to go up. It would not surprise me if the idea of declaring position based on points on 7th March is defeated) but that the possibility of PPG together with play-offs remains.
Having stuck my own neck out I'd be interested to hear what others thought.
Re: Decisions being made
EFL are waiting for the Prem and will need to cooperate for that £1.2m per club somebody mentioned earlier. Everyone else will just have to wait...
