Re: Decisions being made
The play-off issue will now drive the momentum in the NL as it should. At this point its handy to have the likes of Notts County, Barnet and Halifax as well as Harrogate engaged because they are not by any means without influence.
Also increasingly strong signs that the NL is not going to engage in an open debate. Too time consuming and given the EFL declaration would immediately send the wrong noises. Also possible indications for the first time that it may be prepared to go with relegation from the NL.
The EFL declaration is already beginning to change the landscape of this debate.

Re: Decisions being made
From Simon Stone on the BBC web site:
"The National League is still to decide how it will finish this season, although if it follows the EFL model, Barrow would be promoted, with Barnet moving into a six-team play-off at the expense of Stockport County."

It all comes 'round again.

Re: Decisions being made
Presumably this is because Barnet would benefit from an unweighted PPG advantage. Be surprised if that went through without some debate. Maidenhead on the other hand will be bang in favour.Nigel Bamford wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 10:31 am From Simon Stone on the BBC web site:

Re: Decisions being made
I have already seen some complaints on Twitter about Barnet profiting from poorly maintaining their pitch, causing a backlog of unplayed games.
As for the Macclesfield Decision; I would not be surprised at all if they receive the same punishment that Boston got, and be relegated (as I am sure the National League will quickly confirm to the EFL that they will be operating next season) straight into the National North.
IF that were to happen, then, because of Bury's demise as well, although there will probably be two clubs promoted from the National, there would be NO clubs relegated into it. (The following will not be your problem in that case lol)
That in turn would mean that only two clubs will be relegated from the National.
As in previous decisions, the clubs saved would be those highest in the relegation places (after PPG is applied),
Maidenhead United and Ebbsfleet United.
Fylde and Chorley would still be relegated.
Thus two clubs each from the North & South will be promoted, but effectively three clubs will be relegated into the North, while none go into the South.
As Gloucester City are due to either play next season ground-sharing with Bath or back at their old ground (with a much-raised pitch to prevent future flooding), they will be favorites to be moved back across to the South to balance up the Divisions (despite the three-year yo-yo rule)
One other club may also be moved across. Looking at the map, the next lowest are Brackley, Leamington or Hereford.
But essentially there will be an imbalance in club numbers in either the North & South.
And due to the lower levels of the pyramid being Null & Voided, plus the legal challenge by South Shields being dismissed, there will be no clubs promoted into the North & South.
So highly unlikely that any clubs will be relegated either.
As the pyramid reconstruction has also been cancelled, that will leave both the North & South Divisions clubs short if comparing the National North & the National South to the National.
And all that does not take into consideration clubs going bust before next season even starts.
It may well be that the FA will be forced to 'adjust' clubs upward to replace gaps.
Next season could be very different in more ways than one.

Re: Decisions being made
Pretty good analysis that. Particularly like the bit about Fylde being relegated.
Am still not sure about Macc though. If they do gets a points deduction I dont see why that would not simply mean relegation to the league below. The EFL tribunal has as far as I know no jurisdiction over the NL. And Stevenage certainly wont be expecting a two division relegation.
The scenario being explored here might be one whereby Macc is unable to take its place in the NL. If that were so they'd surely fall further than the NLN.

Re: Decisions being made
I actually think the EFL have had enough of Macclesfield (or at least the owner) and will expel them rather than just relegate them - the last thing the EFL will want is to relegate them, but then reprieve them is someone else goes bust.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:22 pm Pretty good analysis that. Re: Decisions being made
That would certainly have the desired effect. But if Macc are expelled I think they will fold very quickly. So I'm not convinced the NL will have the problem. As an aside I read this on the BBC sport website.chipmunx wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:30 pmI actually think the EFL have had enough of Macclesfield (or at least the owner) and will expel them rather than just relegate them - the last thing the EFL will want is to relegate them, but then reprieve them is someone else goes bust.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:22 pm Pretty good analysis that. The really sad thing about this is that it would appear that the only ones pleading the case for their club in the media are the players. Have heard virtually nothing from their owner or club officials.

and most players won't be soon as they have only 2 stlll on contract after their retained list came out (they have offered a few a new deal too)Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:38 pmThat would certainly have the desired effect. "Details on tomorrow afternoon's divisional meetings:
Clubs will be given a presentation by the National League CEO Michael Tattersall & an FA representative.
Only 2 representatives from each club can attend (one must be the chairman).
Clubs may submit questions in advance."
With the FA in attendance, it looks like the whip is out.

Re: Decisions being made
Tells you a little bit perhaps about the FAs confidence in Tattersall to sort this out without help. And deals with any potential bias or conflict of interest within the NL council members. Also suggests that any objections based on what the FAs position may or may not be will be dealt with.deadly wealdstone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:47 pm @Ollie_Bayliss

Re: Decisions being made
Indeed, what with the Dover Chairman's previously quoted remarks, I thought he might have to be excluded from the National board because of his obvious bias.
As someone said on Wealdstone's forum, " Only some kind of childish, bitchy and vindictive behaviour by club(s) racked with envy could bring on a null and void. Naturally the 4 relegation clubs will want this, but that [SwearFilter] at Dover banging on about it 'not being fair' that Barrow get promoted are the ones to watch out for. So its fine for the EFL but not for Dover. Still a Ryman League Club at heart."

Re: Decisions being made
because it's 2 up from the NL and only 1 down from the EFL it would only be 3 teams not 4 going down - so Maidenhead would/should vote for PPG not N+Vdeadly wealdstone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 1:10 pm Indeed, what with the Dover Chairman's previously quoted remarks, I thought he might have to be excluded from the National board because of his obvious bias.

I had pointed that out on our forum, but did not want to edit his post on here as only the part about the Dover Chairman was relevant.chipmunx wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 1:16 pmbecause it's 2 up from the NL and only 1 down from the EFL it would only be 3 teams not 4 going down - so Maidenhead would/should vote for PPG not N+Vdeadly wealdstone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 1:10 pm Indeed, what with the Dover Chairman's previously quoted remarks, I thought he might have to be excluded from the National board because of his obvious bias.

Although I see there is indeed a swear filter on this forum, but not on ours...yet.
