At least that would mean the pubs had actually re-opened I suppose....Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 2:52 pmNo comment on Ian Dennis. He is a journalist and has to earn a living. I just hope I never bump into him in a pub one day (….or maybe I do!)

Hmmmmm. Not sure what to think. Doesn't seem right that the two standout performing teams from each of the NL N&S aren't given the opportunity to get promoted and this may have a big influence on the outcome.
Where those in the relegation zone may have been dead against PPG originally, the voting balance may now swing towards those in and around the playoffs in the leagues below.

Re: Decisions being made
The new proposal changes the dynamic of the vote quite significantly. I have to wonder whether that was partly what it was intended to do. I can only really see Bhamwood, Dover and Chorley opposing the motion. Even Stockport will still harbour a hope that they will take Bhamwoods place if the latter refuses to enter the play-offs.TaylorBAFC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 3:04 pm With the prospect of no playoffs from step-two, it'll be interesting to see how the clubs vote.
The other serious opponents now have a solution that suits them so dont really have much of a beef. The proposal creates a large swath of clubs who have no axe to grind and will probably support the motion just to move on. You can see the motion now getting 20 or 21 NL votes in favour unless I'm reading the thing wrongly of course. On that basis the 8 votes in the NLN/NLS wouldn't matter. And that's assuming the Step 2 votes would go against the proposal which given that the FA pull the strings at this level and has already stopped relegation may not be a given anyway.
As Andy Williams once crooned "We're almost there".

But don't forget the FL agm which will be where we have to be accepted for promotion.
Goodness knows when that will be and what could possibly go wrong there...

THE NORTHERN WAY
Re: Decisions being made
From Altrincham official site- The news circulating that plays offs may not take place in NL North & South is clearly / understandably not going down well with the teams it would prevent having a go a promotion....
This statement is to respond to the announcement from the Non-League Paper that there may not be playoffs from the National Leagues North and South.
The National League North clubs are meeting this afternoon to determine the approach to the end of the season.
The possibility of playoffs for the National League North had been formally tabled by the National League and on the basis of 'points-per-game' Altrincham were one of the teams who would qualify.
The board met last night to discuss our approach to the end of the season. Any playoffs would have to take place behind closed doors, and with a comprehensive testing regime in place for a number of weeks beforehand.
We had estimated the cost of this exercise as being perhaps as much as £50,000. That being said, the Board were unanimous in our position that our brilliant team and our superb fans deserve this shot at promotion; and we strongly committed our support to the motion for playoffs.
The National League sent out a note late Wednesday evening implying that playoffs would not now take place from the NLN and NLS "on the instructions of the Government". We await further information on this, but what we have received so far is not definitive in this matter.
The club will be attending this afternoons call with the intention of continuing to press the case for Playoffs, and therefore for promotion, from the National League North.
The National League have always maintained the position that all three divisions will have the same approach to promotion and relegation and we therefore also expect to see this rule to be applied in any decision reached.
The club will update further after the National League North meeting this afternoon, but we will respect the confidentiality expected from all member clubs as part of this process.

Re: Decisions being made
Well Tuesdays meeting was an EGM which gave the EFL the same powers as an AGM. So the AGM does not have to ratify anything that was agreed at that meeting. Barrow are also one of a number of clubs that are already EFL approved, so there should be nothing more for us to demonstrate in terms of statutory compliance.
The issue that might come up would be the position of the relegated team from L2 and the ability for the NL to commence next season. As has been repeated many times though, this should not affect us as we would be deemed to have taken the first available place by default anyway - ultimately that would be that vacated by Bury.
Usually the AGMs can be quite significant, but all the main decisions will have already been made by the EFL. So our acceptance should be a formality.
I think the main topic for the L2 AGM will be next season rather than rummaging through the ashes of 2019/2020.

Re: Decisions being made
I can't see the vote not being accepted not keen on waiting any longer.. As for the Ian Dennis tweet he says if the vote is not accepted then the national league will look at other options including null and void.. Not that a no vote means a null and void
We will probably get the news then I'll probably get hit by a bus that's just my luck that

Re: Decisions being made
Overall it is good news for Barrow, Kings Lynn and Wealdstone.
Barring a massive turn-around, our respective clubs will be promoted.
However, the whole process leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
It is the most disgusting last-minute stitch-up I have seen in many a year.
Using the Government directive and distorting it to their own ends to not have full promotion and relegation between the National and the North & South Divisions.
Even if the play-offs were not possible, PPG should be used to promote the second-placed clubs.
It really does seem that the National is a real-life Animal Farm:
'All Clubs are equal, it's just that some clubs are more equal than others.' as Napoleon might say.

Re: Decisions being made
The voting system should apply to each seperate league how can you have the National League being out voted by 2 league's (north & South) it's disproportionate!
