If NLN/NLS sides can’t afford and the EFL insists on it then surely it’s sensible to make a grant available for teams to pay for the play offs?
Decisions being made

Is it fair to say that Fylde made a bit of a dogs dinner of their season!

Re: Decisions being made
Having had four months of this Oscar winning comedy playing out week upon week, I think it is entirely appropriate that it should be ended by a submission to Stephen Fry for arbitration on the meaning of the word "elite", and with Boris Johnson breaking into his latest utterances on Covid-19 to announce that HMG had succeeded in achieving another of it key goals; viz the resolution of the great National League Step 2 play-off debate.
Never mind a musical, this is turning into an opera of Wagnerian proportions. But hark! Is that a large lady I see approaching and is she perhaps clearing her throat and about to sing?

Re: Decisions being made
This is just exposing how bad the planning and communication in this league is.... giving the EFL even more ammunition to step away/distance hahaha so glad we wont have to deal with this much longer (fingers crossed)
Re: Decisions being made
Haythornthwaite has said at various times over the past few months:
"Barrow should go up"
"There should be no play-offs, we voted to end the season"
"Barrow and Harrogate should play off"
"Null and void"
"Two up and two down has to be an option"
"I'll take relegation on the chin"
"You can't relegate us with games still to play"
"Clubs will take legal action if they are relegated"
He changes his mind more than Fylde's fans change clubs.

Re: Decisions being made
If this had been 1939 and this manky lot had been running the country then Adolf would have won the war without a shot being fired. Can you picture the scene now, the committee while still turning over the options yet again as to the football league outcome, hear a noise outside (from the invasion force) and decide to carry on arguing the toss while not only the 'Great' in Great Britain disappears but Britain itself. An utter shambles.

Re: Decisions being made
We are getting right to the marrow of it all now the bone has been well chewed as these many pages will verify! So hopefully come Tuesday we will be crowned supreme champions and star of the show. Then come next season we can start to show others mongrels can mix it with those of a so called pedigree

Indeed, the costs of testing seems to vary wildly.
I had an e-mail offering a private test kit for £70. I thought that was a rip off.
Some people are clearly making a lot of money.

You're right that it isn't accurate - the writer seems to be unaware that 'no step 6 play-offs' has been removed from the resolution.deadly wealdstone wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:34 pmIndeed, the costs if testing seems to vary wildly.

And whilst not totally accurate, this type of headline might make the NL board think again.

Re: Decisions being made
Well that explains the last minute change of direction and delay on the proposal but not the reason why they veered away from the EFL framework proposal format in the first place.
I can only think that the NL were led by the nose by the FA who for some reason wanted to create a bespoke solution for Step 2 so as to "dovetail" into their decision already made for Step 3 and below. Somebody should have known however that when you invoke interpretations of Government guidelines as the basis for a decision then you are likely to end up in a whole heap of trouble unless your information is watertight.
So the NL ended up doing the one thing they needed to avoid doing, that is not to follow the EFL. Well at least they made the EFL look relatively competent by comparison.
This entire process has utterly destroyed the reputation of the NL Board which it has to be said looked pretty flimsy in the first place. Non of its member clubs can really have any confidence in its ability to act impartially and exclusively on their behalf. If as has been reported there is going to have to be more significant change in the NL and if they seriously want to campaign for three up from the NL I think there is going to have to be a major overhaul of their Governance framework.
I'd just like BAFC to be able to evacuate the building before the roof caves in.

Reading histories of that time, there was a pretty manky lot in charge in August before Churchill took charge in 1940.TOUCHSTONE71 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 11:46 am If this had been 1939 and this manky lot had been running the country then Adolf would have won the war without a shot being fired.
