The BIG question for me is -- when the decision is made and we are promoted (which I think we will be) - do we have another 40 pages on here to celebrate ? or do we start a new thread entitled 'Decison Made'?
Decisions being made

Re: Decisions being made
I'm still not sure Pedro who the NL actually are apart from a Chairman, Brian Barwick, a CEO Mike Tattersall and a lawyer Mel Stein. Other than that they appear to be a collection of admin staff, ad hoc board members, and club member representatives. You can find out more online about the associated charity the National League Trust than you can about the NL personnel and structure.Pedro wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:46 amIrrespective of what happen the National Board and Officials should be reviewed and some replaced.whitty1969 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 10:28 am The National league have to follow suit with the EFL...end of.
Its tuff on big Dave, but if it was Barrow and we had been shit all season then we would have to accept it.
All this delay is nonsense and makes us look like Sunday league admin.
We waited for the EFL. They finally made a decision now follow that lead.
It's symptomatic as with the Government they take the jobs but do not have the ability to do it.
Despite a national profile I suspect that they have the turnover of an SME and that doesn't usually warrant much of a professional management team. So when problems arise that cannot be dealt with by simply following a directive, its not long before cracks in impartiality appear.
The problem may be not just that the current incumbents need replacing but that the entire NL structure needs a radical overhaul with additional roles being defined.

Mel Stein was Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer, Chris Waldells agent. He tried to negotiate a trout farm as part of a deal for Gazza to go to Lazio.

Latest update (From Maidenhead local rag)
The National League could be forced to climb down on its proposal not to stage play-off matches in the National League North and South after being informed there was no government directive stating clubs at step two aren’t considered elite.
The league put forward proposals last week that would see league placings decided on a points-per-game calculation and play-off matches take place in the National League Premier, but not in the North and South leagues.
Under the original proposal Barrow would be promoted to League 2 as National League champions while bottom club Chorley would be the only side to be relegated. However, it now seems the league might backtrack on its decision to cancel play-offs in National League North and South amid uncertainty over what the government classes as elite sport.
Last week the National League told clubs that 'via the FA the government had advised that its policy on the return of elite sports behind closed doors would not include step two football'.
Any amendment could revive Slough Town’s hopes of promotion through the play-offs. The Rebels, managed by Jon Underwood and Neil Baker, were fifth in National League South when the season was suspended and then ended early due to COVID-19. The club was one of several at step two to challenge the league’s assertion that it was not an elite club. It called on the league to explain how the decision was arrived at and what the evidence was behind it. A statement put out on Saturday also sought clarity from the National League over the criteria and protocols for staging play-off matches and greater detail on the associated costs.
Clubs had been told by the league that a resolution – or an amended resolution – to vote on would be with them by Sunday evening. However, Rebels boss Baker confirmed they were still waiting for that this lunchtime (Monday).
They’ve had no formal communication from the league explaining the delay or if an amendment to the original resolution is being drawn up.
National League North and South clubs very quickly banded together to challenge the original proposals which were communicated to them at an online meeting on Thursday. Enlisting the help of several MPs they’ve put evidence to the league that the government hasn’t expressed a view either way on whether step two clubs should be considered elite or part-time.
Alan Mak, MP for Havant – whose local club Havant & Waterlooville (HWFC) finished second in National League South behind Wealdstone - spoke with the sports minister Nigel Huddleston late last week and has since written to the league’s chairman Brian Barwick to let him know their assessment of what constitutes an elite club is wrong.
He said: “Elite athlete means a person who is an individual who derives a living from competing in a sport. If HWFC and the National League agree that HWFC’s players meet this definition, the government is not intending to prevent National League South play-offs from taking place or HWFC from taking part.”
If play-off matches were to take place in the National League North and South it’s likely three clubs would be relegated from the National League, namely Chorley, AFC Fylde and Ebbsfleet United. Maidenhead United would escape by the skin of their teeth thanks to the league’s points-per-game calculation, and Bury’s expulsion from the league.
National League clubs voted to end their season in April after it was suspended in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Re: Decisions being made
things could get further complicated after the vote on the relegation side IF Macclesfield end up as the team coming out of the EFL I think there is every chance they would go straight into NLN as Boston did in 2007. That would save Ebbsfleet at the AGM.

There probably should be at least one more Director but two Colin Gordon and Caroline Barker resigned on 20th May 2020.
Company records also show that there were 8 registered employees at the end of 2019 and that the company accounts have been prepared as per guidelines pertaining to a "small" business.
This may or may not provide clues as to how impartiality and the making of difficult decisions could be problematic in such an organisation.

Re: Decisions being made
You would think with Sid Blain being on the committee we could at least get an update !
Surely is that too much to ask?

I thought it had already been decided that they would climb down, and that the new proposal (due to have been sent out yesterday) would include these play-offs?

I found it hysterical that "Fylde Dave" said in one of his videos that the Hampton and Richmond member shouldn't be allowed a vote as he had a vested interest as H & R were second in NLS behind Eastbourne when the season finished...Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:41 pmThanks Stephen. Re: Decisions being made
In his latest one, he believes the DCMS are a new government department that he's never heard of! They've been going for 23 years. You would expect a football club owner and someone who has recently been involved in politics to know that, making it slightly suspicious.chipmunx wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:09 pmI found it hysterical that "Fylde Dave" said in one of his videos that the Hampton and Richmond member shouldn't be allowed a vote as he had a vested interest as H & R were second in NLS behind Eastbourne when the season finished...Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:41 pm

Interesting little factoid that I became aware of only today. This is in France where the Ligue 1 season was voided some time ago without promotion or relegation from/to Ligues 1/2. It appears that last week a French court suspended this judgement on appeal and that the French Government have now backed the French legal system and have forced the French FA to reinstall promotion and relegation. Et tu Dave?
