You'll be going to Barrow next season. The season after perhaps Dover or Ebbsfleet.

If he is that good, why are Bolton not chasing him?
Because we want to be going places, not standing still.
No. It's because he's after a better job at Birmingham although standing still would be pretty good for you after the last umpteen years!

"I think things have changed since Adam's post on Tuesday, thinks hes virtually gone"..............only because of the fabrications you have read on here. And yes, Bolton have made an approach, that doesn't mean he's going though. The man is no dummy-Bolton are in a hell of a state and the way things are going their predicament could, and probably will get a whole lot worse for them.
More to do with his current odds and the deafening silence from evatt, the board and the usual suspects in the know, I hope I'm wrong as would love him to stay
I would guess that Bolton want Evatt and he wants to go but I'm not sure that Bolton can afford or want to pay the compensation. When I heard Evatt interviewed on radio cumbria he sounded completely depressed so, possibly, it was because he had found out that Barrow's directors were going to insist on full compensation be paid immediately as is their right. There's certainly something holding things up otherwise it would have been announced by now. No doubt, we shall find out in due course.

Paul Hornby said he and Evatt "were having a good laugh on the phone about the numerous clubs Evatt has been linked with".
It was Paul Hornby and one of the other directors (Tony?) that were having the laugh not Hornby and Evatt.

And for me the telling comment from the chairman was the qualifying "just now" at the end of his denial. He did that twice.
OK cheers Nigel.
And yeah, I picked up on that "just now" as well.
Ah well-hopefully the board should now be making the necessary preparations for our future in the face of Mr Evatt's probable departure.
At least after 48 years our dream was realised and that's something we are all thankful for.
Yesterday is history-Tomorrow is a mystery-Soon he will be gone-And we will go on with anticipation and excitement.

The main sticking point is obviously the £250k compensation, and why would we deviate from that?
The Bolton fans seem to think they can negotiate it down, but why should we? It's going to cost us a fair amount to replace him with a manager of a similar calibre, and I don't think we need to 'sell' him right now.

Another argument seems to be that he should just quit Barrow and go for free! I'm pretty sure that would trigger a tribunal and could that end up costing them considerably more? Especially if it's in the terms of his contract that that is the price.

Only if Bolton can come up with £250,000 upfront which might make them look elsewhere. I see one report saying the Assistant Manager is also in that figure, but other reports say he isn't.

:scarf: If he doesn't go to Bolton there will be some other club come in for him and Evatt can afford to wait and see. Let's hope there is a plan in place to replace him asap

I'm not too familiar with managerial dealings but is there anything that could happen that may risk not getting compensation whatsoever if we play a massive amount of hardball?

Or is it just a case of if he goes, we are compensated.

It's in his contract so it's pretty nailed on. Also he wouldn't want to leave us out of pocket anyway.

Lets hope they pay in full as we know what Boltons record of paying payments is like

Ian Evatt could stop all this by saying he is stopping at Barrow make me think he wants to go.

Bolton Wanderers have lined up Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Moore as an alternative appointment if talks with Barrow boss Ian Evett break down, Football Insider understands.
