Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
Now that it has finally hit home, We are all looking forward to life back in the EFL, but under no illusions, this is a whole new experience for us, and far removed from 1972, so what can we expect different on match day.... a few to bear in mind. ....

- I think we are moving towards restricted movement around the ground, pick your stand, thats it, i think the days of freely moving between ends at Half Time could be up, likewise- ticked / allocated seats.
- no smoking in the ground, you’ll have to have your last ciggy before entering the ground.
- Im not sure what the club plan to do with cash turnstiles, I think we will move more towards ticketed entry and the ratio ticket / cash entry will change significantly.
- season tickets- I expect there will be a massive uptake in this for next season, especially if restricted capacity
- stewarding increase- stewards from other clubs,
- pre match warm ups- an additional set of goals required on the pitch for each team
- segregation- Main stand segregation will deffo need to be reviewed / altered. That will reduce seats / capacity in the stand. The magic rope wont cut it.
....All COVID-19 things considered of course
Some easier to introduce than others,What else?

Seeing the teams come out from under the main stand.
No popping out to the soccer bar at HT for those who did that.
Possibly no HT pint for those in the wrong area.
Definitely restrictions on movement.
Let’s just hope the stewards/pretend riot police from that last home game aren’t asked back.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

No more popping behind the goals on the HS End first half then back to the Pop side for the second half for at least some games I would imagine

And no more singing ‘Ian Evatt’s blue and white army’ either by the looks of things.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Did I read somewhere there was going to be a lot more (for more see expensive!) work done on the pitch if we got promoted?

Especially if we're playing Bolton!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:49 pm And no more singing ‘Ian Evatt’s blue and white army’ either by the looks of things.![]()

Years ago while tidying up the GMA under the main stand we uncovered all the original tiles from what used to be the old players bath.xerxes wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:05 amThat ain't new!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:27 pm Seeing the teams come out from under the main stand.

The club received a grant recently of £1500 from Pitch Perfect to help with its maintenance.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:21 am Did I read somewhere there was going to be a lot more (for more see expensive!) work done on the pitch if we got promoted?

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
The lad leading out the team was a ball-boy and used to carry 'Zigger' out to the centre-circle. He later became a boot boy. I wonder where he is these days?xerxes wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:05 amThat ain't new!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:27 pm Seeing the teams come out from under the main stand.

Who is the second player coming out? With the 'tache? He looks an absolute unit!xerxes wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:05 amThat ain't new!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:27 pm Seeing the teams come out from under the main stand.

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
It's not a 'tache, it's just a trick of the light on a rather grainy picture of a picture. It's Malcolm Edwards, who was clean shaven. I think, though not 100% sure, that behind him is Ron McGarry. And of course Brian Arrowsmith at the front.Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 2:08 pmWho is the second player coming out? With the 'tache? He looks an absolute unit!
