Ian Evatt
Re: Ian Evatt
It would be a damn shame if Evatt did go to Bolton, he has a great chance of emulating the Cowleys at Lincoln (currently at Huddersfield) if he gives us a bit more time and I'm pretty sure this will all be down to his agent, banding Evatts name around to get himself a wedge or two.
There's a lot to be said for agents destroying the potential careers of young up and coming managers, putting them into situations ahead of there time and experience.
Hope he stays, firstly for the good of BAFC but also for the good of his career.

Re: Ian Evatt
BBC Radio cumbria saying an offer well below 250k has been rejected, they cant afford him...... ah well better luck next time.
Re: Ian Evatt
The Bolton Evening News is owned by Newsquest who own the Evening Mail ,so I think like the Mail it will not be reporting up to date and factual information.mall wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 7:25 am Ian Evatt has just been quoted on Radio Cumbria sports bulletin as saying that "It's inevevattable that he is going to be linked to other jobs seeing as he got Barrow promoted".
By Marc Iles MarcIles
Chief Football Writer-Bolton News.....
"Sources close to Evatt insisted the deal had not veered off course and that an arrangement on compensation could still be struck quickly. But at Bolton – who had hoped to appoint a new boss before the weekend – the mood was more circumspect.".......
This Bolton News reporter called Marc Iles knows no more than any of us. As Adam eluded to earlier in the thread, basically its all a load of crap, bits and pieces pulled together to make what is really a non story.
Of course there is interest in Evatt, there is bound to be. But I wouldn't be worried about Bolton coming in for him-as we know ,they are basically potless. Other clubs will be working on Evatt silently in the background-that's where the danger lies.
As for the likes of Johnno etc, I think he emanates from somewhere closer to home.
Reading the Bolton Wanderers Forum supporters are not happy about paying compensation.
Thankfully Fylde offered I.E the Managers job and he negotiated a improved deal .
With I.E stating he was fully committed to Barrow but under this new regime Paul Hornby put a clause for compensation in it.
Not sure we would have been on the ball under the old Management .
Bolton now will have to pay the compensation.
Just hearing on RC that Bolton had a derisive offered turned down.
I think the I E interview is a historical one ,as no mention of Bolton.
If I.E does not go it will be down to the fact that Bolton are saying they are Millionaires but actual do not have the funds,.
I.E will jump ship if they do pay up.
My view is if it's not settled by Monday he stays and I .E will be live on RC singing his allegiance .
He is selling his Labour at the end of the day but thank you Fylde for coming in for him as we either have cash coming to us or he stays and the contract he signed at no extra cost.

Re: Ian Evatt
Bolton thinking they can bully us into this.
Well done the board give no ground.
Disappointed in Evatts agent as well if Evatt stays we'll have this non stop everytime a manager gets sacked elsewhere as Evatts agent is determined to move him.
I'm also worried about how many of our current squad are signed upto him.
Will be interesting to see if Evatt will put a request to leave in.

Re: Ian Evatt
If IE is worth x amounts now because of what he has achieved so far, imagine what he could be worth if he does the impossible and takes us another level?
Like paul hornby has said, another good year and you can become championship managerial territory!!
Wont ya stay another day...stay now stay now..

Re: Ian Evatt
Steve Whiston IE agent is just doing his job. He managed to negotiate his client IE a better contract when Fylde came in for him. Like it or not this is what agents do and if they did not they would not be working in the best interests of their clients. If you were paying an agent to look after your interests you would want him doing the same. Its not about the club with agents its about those who pay their wages in this case its IE paying for his agents services.barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:53 am Bolton thinking they can bully us into this.

Re: Ian Evatt
Simple stuff really.
Perfectly reasonable to follow the guidelines, Ian's done incredibly and no problem speaking to bigger clubs, which despite being in the same league, Bolton of course is. But not a better run one it seems. And what he'd make of the management set up there...
The terms of the the reasonable, fairly new contract need to be adhered to.
I would say some people close to IE have unfortunately (for them not us) failed to realise that our board do things professionally and properly and can't be bounced into 'deals. May that schooling serve them well.
As to anything in the Lancashire papers, they are listening to the wrong people.

Re: Ian Evatt
Surely he would either be worth less - due to having less time to run on his contract, or would be worth the same - if the buy out clause relates to how much it'll cost to get him out early and isn't related to time.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:09 am If IE is worth x amounts now because of what he has achieved so far, imagine what he could be worth if he does the impossible and takes us another level?
If Bolton can pay the full fee, then as good as he is I wouldn't be devastated to see him go. I wanted him to stay and give it at least 1 season in the league, but I'm not sure keeping him under these circumstances would be all that positive now. If Bolton cant pay the full fee though then he stays, and I hope the club don't give an inch on that.

See below for the rules. It seems to be completely based on the amount of money over the length of contract left.

Re: Ian Evatt
The whole thing leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Obviously he wants to go to Bolton, they think we will just roll over because they have a big stadium. He would be mad to join that circus but I don't think he will still be here by the start of the next seasonKieran wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:17 amSurely he would either be worth less - due to having less time to run on his contract, or would be worth the same - if the buy out clause relates to how much it'll cost to get him out early and isn't related to time.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:09 am If IE is worth x amounts now because of what he has achieved so far, imagine what he could be worth if he does the impossible and takes us another level?

Re: Ian Evatt
Our players are under contract and I'm sure Paul Hornby would want fees for any of them. Bolton are not allowed to pay a fee for any player until summer 2021!barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:53 am Bolton thinking they can bully us into this.

Paul Hornby will have made it a buy out clause which is not time related.Kieran wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:17 amSurely he would either be worth less - due to having less time to run on his contract, or would be worth the same - if the buy out clause relates to how much it'll cost to get him out early and isn't related to time.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:09 am If IE is worth x amounts now because of what he has achieved so far, imagine what he could be worth if he does the impossible and takes us another level?

It could be cut at a tribunal if say 50% of his contract was left.
As for it not being ideal if he stays,I would think that might be the case if he was,at the end of the career but he is not.
If he stays he will strive to prove he is consistent and if he is a bigger club will come in and have to pay less.
