Ian Evatt
Re: Ian Evatt
Simple really, if Evatt is interested in the job, and the 2 clubs cannot agree terms, if he really wants the job, he resigns and let the courts settle it

Betting update:
IE drifting out slightly to 1/8
Darren Moore also drifting out, 25/1
There's been a surge of betting on Richie Wellens, now 10/1 and 3rd favourite

Not angry but I guess I see things differently to most due to previous experience and dont get all the name calling and we are bigger than you rubbish which simply distracts from the main facts and issues.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:10 pm
I selected the one line Stephen simply to save space. And I reiterate I agree with your comments though your tone does feel a bit angry though I certainly wasn't suggesting an apology.
I would actually go further and admit that if Bolton could be trusted to stump up the compensation in one amount, Id be very tempted to take it and go and buy myself a name with a decent reputation at this level. I would actually see that as progress despite not wanting to lose Evatts skill set.
I think Barrows owners are doing exactly the right thing, but I also think Bolton are doing what always happens in these situations - trying to negotiate and also unsettle( which whilst morally wrong is what happens in football). I suspect they will think that in the end the compensation can be negotiated (not because they are a big club bullying us) because generally in football that's what happens.
I actually don't see anything unusual with what Bolton are doing - but maybe they are surprised at Barrow not negotiating back. I doubt the issue is whether they can afford it per se but whether they feel he is worth that much compensation.
But it does seem pretty clear to me that Evatt wants to talk to them at least and therefore must feel that Bolton (despite all its problems) is a step up.
I actually see him staying now as a potentially bigger problem because as others have pointed out this will be like groundhog day until he does eventually leave and he will be linked to every vacancy at L2 and above (which is a compliment to both Evatt and Barrow) - therefore if prospective new signings know this will they be reluctant to committ to us if they think the manager may move in a few months.
Some people really do need to think a bit more before they post things on here

Re: Ian Evatt
You see Johnno this is why some people on this thread get a little angry with your input
If IE does what you say, then the club could seek an injunction that would prevent him becoming Bolton manager. That could extend to preventing Bolton from appointing a manager whilst the injuction was in place. That could extend to an investigation by the EFL or the FA into the behaviour of Bolton Wanderers in this whole affair.
Despite its great and glorious history, Bolton Wanderers has never been closer to oblivion than it has been over the last 12 months and even with the appearance of FV its financials remain awful. It is on life support. You have no credit. Virtually every transaction you conduct has to be with cash up front in the full knowledge that that cash does not come from anybody within BWFC. Its not personal in any way but no one trusts your club Johnno financially apart from if we believe you, Ian Evatt.
Re: Ian Evatt
I think you’d have to be a snake in the grass to do that after agreeing to have the £250k release clause in your contract. I’d be really surprised if Evatt did something like that.
I’d hope Leo’s take on the situation is accurate.
Leo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:14 pm When his new contract was signed it was done in good faith, and an acknowledgment that the release clause would be adhered to by both sides. Thus the board would not stand in his way if a club was willing to put up the cash, but likewise Evatt wouldnt throw his toys out if they were interested but unwilling to do so.

Exactly, almost like paying the price for a bit of success here. Unfortunately, we are a stepping stone club, whilst some may think that is a good thing, i hate the prospect of that as it means that any success that comes our way, those behind it will inevitably move on. I know, it’s football and happens all the way through the levels.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:33 pm I actually see him staying now as a potentially bigger problem because as others have pointed out this will be like groundhog day until he does eventually leave and he will be linked to every vacancy at L2 and above (which is a compliment to both Evatt and Barrow) - therefore if prospective new signings know this will they be reluctant to committ to us if they think the manager may move in a few months.

Is there a club below the Premier League that isn't a stepping stone club?Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:54 pmExactly, almost like paying the price for a bit of success here. Similarly, every player joins a club in the knowledge that if their manager does a good job, he'll be off.
Re: Ian Evatt
My understanding is the 250K is just for Evatt.Hadrian wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 11:53 amrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:30 am Bolton are not allowed to pay a fee for any player until summer 2021!
Not a bad little package for a club to access for a quarter of a million pounds.
If a club has a quarter of a million pounds to spend, of course.
Re: Ian Evatt
It's a great thing if we are compensated everytime a big fish preys on our small fish club, as we grow a tiny bit with the proceeds.Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:54 pmExactly, almost like paying the price for a bit of success here. Re: Ian Evatt
Yes by entering the EFL we enter a new reality. We are now ostensibly the smallest fish in a much bigger pond in which if you pardon the phrase, size is everything. Our managers will be taken if they are any good and jettisoned if not. Our players will be commodities. Its not entirely unlike the NL but much tougher.Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 12:54 pmExactly, almost like paying the price for a bit of success here. This episode is a great example of how things are going to be and should serve the purpose of getting rid of the rose tinted glasses with which we have ascended to the promised land again.
Re: Ian Evatt
In all seriousness, would you still support him if he stays? Despite the achievements of getting us up, he has tried to jump ship at every chance
