Re: Ian Evatt
Known as ‘baldy Mark’ by Bury fans, he is certainly known for giving Bolton fans what they want to hear and hope, rather the full story. Basically, The Bolton News is their version of The Mail but without the drugs.NORTHERNSOUL wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:55 pmPersonally I wouldn't believe a word Iles writes there are a lot of people in Bury who hold him at least partially responsible for how that worked out and it was pretty clear that at the time FV.s were trying to do their deal this time last year they were using him as a mouthpiece to get across what they wanted to get out to a wider audience.mall wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 5:02 pm
"but they aren't making it all up."-
I think they are. There has been a massive slump in the print media due to the virus-people got out of the habit.
The Bolton News knows people are desperate for a bit of good news and is happy to print sh!te to sell papers=profit.

Stance we reported on this morning was that a bid was made which was described as derisory this morning and was rejected. We expect that Bolton would come back in with another bid but it’s believed that they don’t want to go higher than 100k
That’s the last we had
Looks like they think its all over - at their end.

Good, it’s football and it happens, I just hope you paid what was agreed upon when he renewed his contract six months ago.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ian Evatt
I for one hope that he doesn't go to Bolton. Since he came to Barrow it has become a pleasure to go and watch the side which he has created and would some of our players be willing to stop at Barrow if the person who made them work as a unit leaves. It just like we have been here before when we were promoted from the old division four to storm up division three lose our manager and within two seasons get dumped out of the football league. I just hope that if he does go that the board have a suitable replacement in mind who can keep the momentum going after all the excellent work they have done and are doing.I don't blame Ian Evatt for going ,because after all he has done what he said he would do and got Barrow AFC back into the football league, I just wish he would stay for one more season.

Re: Ian Evatt
If Bolton can`t pay what we want I hope we can arrange a pre-season game with them at Holker Street just think of that Bolton might even bring some first team players with them, the mighty Bolton playing Barrow , because we would never play them in a league match would we.

Re: Ian Evatt
Thanks for the reply Adam so If Ian Evatt now appears to be on his way he certainly seems to be following in the footsteps of his idol Ian Holloway. Ian Evatt always talks about how we had to change the "little club Barrow mentality" and that I guess we've done by getting Bolton to stump up more cash for his services than the Trotters originally wanted too. As for Ian Holloway well during his time at Plymouth Argyle he often talked about his passion for the club. A passion that was so strong that in 2007 he decided to leave Argyle for Leicester. I was told by a Plymouth Director at the time that Ian Holloway had told him that he couldn't live on 200k a year, it was rumoured he was set to increase his wage to 500k a year at the Foxes. Mr Holloway struggled in the East Midlands but of course came good at Blackpool where he met up with our Ian.
We all know what a great job Ian Evatt has done for this club but I think it's been great for both parties. Let's be fair Chesterfield didn't want him as a permanent Manager. If we're honest and we were in his shoes, we'd have taken the Bolton job. It's a huge club with great potential but the trouble is he's got to hit the ground running just as Ian Holloway found at Leicester City, the grass isn't always greener. If only Ian Evatt had stayed one more season so we could all have seen what might have been.

Re: Ian Evatt
That's the thing, most of our fans are now saying he may take a couple of seasons to get us playing his way, so next season will be a free hit for him.Colin Appleton wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:18 pm Thanks for the reply Adam so If Ian Evatt now appears to be on his way he certainly seems to be following in the footsteps of his idol Ian Holloway.
