As you indicate Mike it has been talked to death on here several times and was only a credible topic at times when survival was our objective.
I don't suppose newcomers to the Forum will be able to appreciate what has passed before. However, and for old times' sake, there was indeed a 'stadium' on the Marina Village concept plans but that was all it was - a concept. There was no mention of football, athletics, dog racing, Ru Paul's drag racing or anything. Maybe Hunger Games, Robot Wars or Rollerball might be played there to a packed house in the future but nobody reading this will see it.

Almost as crazy as the idea of Barrow playing league football again. Its only crazy because there is no vision for it.

Similar schemes have worked very well at numerous clubs across every league up and down the country, that it’s almost standard operating procedure to build new stadiums in our circumstances I’m not sure why their is so much resistance here.

Sharing a stadium has been consistently been proposed.
I hope the Rugby do well ,but we are organised now,a clear plan forward why would we want to dilute our finances.
We managed in the dark days we do not need this now.

I'm all for vision, but can't believe we are down the rabbit hole with this again on here given how busy summer is.

Find 10-15 million quid where we still keep the income generated at the end of it to build this Megadome then by all means.

But in this financial model, for the trust (which is essentially what you folks on here put in, directly or indirectly) that's a bill of 1-1.5 million. Taking the lower figure, 1000 avergae online raffle profits. And let's not forget there will likely be shortfall every year at this level so you couldn't commit the full amount.

The whole 'supermarkets buying xyz' for squillions is long gone. Barrow has plenty space that would be easier to redevelop and buy. Think about how long it takes to develop land already cleared and identified.

As to 'in with the rugby' then you've two sites to shift not one in that scenario. You share in the matchday (or the council trousers it).

Have a look at Accy. A bit more money than us, but the model of organic growth, keeping everyone informed, bit by bit, to me is much more like something we can follow... if we can consolidate in this division or even above.

I certainly can't claim to be an expert re Holker St - my intended visits in the last 2 seasons were thwarted by the West Lancs train strike and a funeral . But regarding Accrington, after their promotion to L2 they initially did the bare minimum required, then a year or so later, in order to comply with the 2000 seats ,they bolted a couple of rows of seats on - which looked awful but satisfied the EFL. I presume they preferred to wait until they'd established themselves as a league club and sorted out their finances before they splashed the cash on their now impressive ground improvements.
So I'd not worry too much short term about your ground.
As regards a clock, once you have one you can't imagine how you survived without one. Can be useful too if for any reason you arrive late for the match.
