Re: New Signings Rumours
Loving the banter takes that Luke James (forward), Mike Jones (defensive midfielder) and Tom Beadling (centre half/central midfielder) have all simultaneously been brought in to replace Rooney in one way or another, we'll sign a backup goalkeeper next and it will somehow be spun into a replacement for John Rooney.

Plenty of people writing players off from their Wikipedia page.
Makes you wonder what would happen in their underpants if some of them had a top notch Wikipedia goalscoring record.

Im gutted Rooney has gone just like i was when IE went but they are gone but we made money from their departures so thats a plus. Who knows how we would have done with them still here but its not all doom and gloom! 3 lads signed today and they seem good players. None of them are replacements for Rooney, I'd say more Harrison and the Blackburn lads tbh. We still need another 8 ? Players to make a decent squad so lets see who comes in. Few teams are back pre season training so lets hope the lads get to training soon and we can see what sort of squad and system DD works with...

Re: New Signings Rumours
Let's give the lads a chance Jones has good league football pedigree James is still young and has potential and beading was a regular is Scottish championship level not too bad of signings players come and go and if Rooney didn't fancy league 2 and stockpot were offering him more money and closer to home you can't blame him thanks for what you did for us John and we move on plenty more signings to come yet it's all about needing a decent size squad to compete at league 2 level so let's see who else we bring in it's not all doom and gloom

Re: New Signings Rumours
I’m ok with the signings Luke James is a squad player and not a starter, the other two I would imagine are for the first eleven.
If we’d of made those signings in the NL I would of been quite excited, but I’m “ok” with them for L2. Still I imagine they will be plenty more to come - bring it on.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Luke James was wanted by Evatt and had plans for him this season. The 3 lads have come in for free remember that , also lets see them play the Carlisle has rave reviews online. Evatt brought lads here that had nt done a great deal and done well with them last season. We aint going to be splashing the cash and going for the big names would be a wrong mentality for our club to do we have a blueprint of the players we bring in. Grafters lads keen to progress and do well and prove they are good enough when written off before , get behind them ffs. Ey and one of thems a barrow lad what you moaning about!
All opinions expressed are my own , not here to cause kick off just enact debate.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Luke James was a talisman and played a massive part in us staying up a few years ago. I’m pleased to see him back.
He made things happen when he got on the ball and also got his fair share of goals - all whilst playing in a weak side.
I’m hopeful that he’ll be a positive signing. His versatility will be really useful and I’d expect him to be pushing for a place in the starting 11.
Not familiar with the other new lads but they seem to have a good pedigree.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Praise for Tom Beadling from former Barrow midfielder and manager Kenny Lowe
Re: New Signings Rumours
Didnt take long for the doom and gloom did it. Just got to the EFL. The club is in the best position on and off the field than it ever has been for alot of supporters.
We have lost rooney yes, but we have just got 3 new players, non of them are particularly shit and we have spent almost nothing.
Smile were in the English Football League

Re: New Signings Rumours
look at the players we have signed and those that they have/will probably replace in the squad in similar positions;-
James replaces/will probably replace Hindle
Jones replaces Waddington
Beadling probably replaces Taylor in the 1st 11 and replaces Elsden in the squad.
All are big improvements on who they replaced in the squad.
We still have to replace;-
Granite with another Centre back.
Harrison with a centre forward - that could possibly be Jack Vale from Blackburn again - the guy signed for us just before Covid, is highly rated and came on as a sub in Blackburn's last championship match.
Rooney with another playmaker.
Platt and White - with 1 or both possibly returning.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Agreed. JR had an outstanding season but you will have noticed teams were on him a lot towards the end as they knew everything came about through him. Should be a better squad next term leastways, can’t wait to see what DD can do with them.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
Re: New Signings Rumours
The club wanted to create excitement by drip feeding the news on Twitter, which is fair enough. Unfortunately, the first news was Rooney leaving. Perhaps that big 'downer' influenced the less than enthusiastic reaction from some people to the signings.
Firstly, Rooney was a highly influential player last season. However, as far as I know, he hadn't exactly been star man in much of the previous 10 years of his career, so perhaps we have got a good deal. Perhaps he was a one-season wonder, and it is suggested that he didn't want to play in L2 anyway. It will be interesting to see if he is a star man at Stockport, won't it?
Re the signings, I am not sure about James, will have to see how he performs. Jones is obviously a very experienced player, apparently much admired by Carlisle fans, and he should be very influential for us. Beadling also looks very promising: his promo inevitably shows his best play, but an endorsement from Kenny Lowe is reassuring. All in all, I think the club has done well so far. Perhaps we need some calming words of explanation about strategy from Paul Hornby?
Oh, and we do need to strengthen central defence, so I am looking forward to some more signings in that area!

Re: New Signings Rumours
I have heard there are a couple more signings in the pipeline and the BOD are willing to spend some money to get players from other clubs (EFL1) - if true this should be interesting

Ok, but should it not be David Dunn fronting up and welcoming his players ?
