This. I've managed on the Pop side for more years than I care to remember. The wind comes straight down the pitch from the west and would take the roof away like a sail if it wasn't fully secure. We've banged on and on about it for years, now it's here let's just rejoice.
It all comes 'round again.

Things in life are seldom ideal, sometimes you just have to be grateful for what you've got. If I ever win the lottery, I would love to fund a 3000 seat cantilever stand with executive boxes that will make Fylde's look cheap.

I think I read new roof is vented to take away the pressure from severe Gales 😊

It’s funny I also know a Gail and she too is severe. I wonder if we are talking about the same Gail? 😎

The Barnet stand is the away end at Exeter but wouldn't be deep enough. Would have only covered the back half of the HSE
I wasn't suggesting the ex Barnet stands as an option because you're right the roof certainly wouldn't reach the front of the Holker End terracing I mentioned it purely as an example of the new type of lightweight stand covers that don't require deep foundations and can easily be dismantled and moved to a new location as Exeter did and no doubt whoever buys the other one will too.

Surprised to hear about the seats being put in the end I would have thought a better option and i.m pretty sure there would be room in the corner to hire and erect a prefabricated 200/300 capacity temporary " golf " stand. I see there's a nice 7k capacity one going cheap as it looks as if they've removed the one from Old Trafford over the summer but not so sure that would quite fit in the corner tho.
It costs about £4000 to hire a 200 seat uncovered seating stand for a weekend.

Their are a lot of supports. Unfortunately these are required under new regulations. Full consultations with stadium solutions have been had to ensure the club fully comply with these regulations.

All the stands at Barnet including the 2.5k capacity one that replaced the cover they sold to Exeter and for that matter the identical one that's going up at the other end and the one that pic was taken from are essentially temporary stands.

And you could say most of the structures built by Stadium Solutions are temporary as one of the selling points is that if you outgrow one of their structures you can remove it sell it on and put the money towards a larger one.

Both the end structures at Salford have been erected in a way that they could easily be dismantled and replaced with larger ones.

Barnet's stand was sold to Exeter City not Torquay United. It's now the away end at St James Park and is a big improvement on what used to be open terracing. In fact the way Exeter's ground has been redeveloped over the last few seasons has been very impressive. In the mid nineties I would say their stadium was only slightly better than Holker Street, but now all four sides have been redeveloped making it into a very tidy ground. The latest upgrade was partially funded by selling off land for student housing. When you consider how much space is behind our Popular side perhaps housing is one option the Barrow board may look at.

It does seem a hell of alot of stanchions I've never seen that many in any football ground I've just looked right through league 2 football ground guide and didn't see any stands like how ours will be supported before but we have got to thank the board for putting a roof on and all the other improvements they are doing it must be to do with the foundations and the back wall maybe why we need so many

Maybe we could make it a big match day parking space is that not a requirement for efl to offer so many spaces

Yes it is, lots more for away players and visiting officials and that's where it'll all go

What the away fans don't realise is that a lot of them won't see the game anyway. It takes years of hardening the eyes to the sweeping rain, hail and gales from the Irish Sea before you can stand at that end and watch the game properly.
