Re: New Roof
If they only put seats on the left hand side, that would be tragic and would look very sh1t, you can hear the away fans taking the pesh now, “what couldn't you afford to seat whole stand”
They couldn’t possibly just put seats in one side though surely?!?!
Don’t mean to sound negative but this is what we will be up against, EFL fans are judgmental and expect higher standards. We’ll be given a pass in year one as we would be a novelty after that expect criticism and dwindling away support.
I don’t like it when we are mocked it cuts.

Re: New Roof
We will probably have one of the worst grounds in the league, I don't really give a shit what people say to be honest, I'd love to see us beating sides and their fans walking down holker street without any points saying our ground is a shit holeEABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:52 pmIf they only put seats on the left hand side, that would be tragic and would look very sh1t, you can hear the away fans taking the pesh now, “what couldn't you afford to seat whole stand”

Re: New Roof
I believe the requirements are for a minimum of 100 away seats (not certain of the number) but I'm not sure whether they have to be under cover. I think it is fairly safe to assume they wouldn't put them behind or wider than standing supporters so I'm guessing they will be in the first "section" after the segregation to give them a view of both goals at least.EABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:52 pmIf they only put seats on the left hand side, that would be tragic and would look very sh1t, you can hear the away fans taking the pesh now, “what couldn't you afford to seat whole stand”

Re: New Roof
I tihnk the answer may come down to money or more critically lack of it. We are having to do an awful lot to the ground amd club in general, a lot of which goes unseen by fans.EABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:52 pmIf they only put seats on the left hand side, that would be tragic and would look very sh1t, you can hear the away fans taking the pesh now, “what couldn't you afford to seat whole stand”

By adding the bare minimum to meet the requirements, rather than gold plating, especially in an area which seating may not be required long term (if the stand is extended in future years then this situation might well change again for example) the club are making the correct level of investment IMO.
I agree that EFL fans will have higher expectations but they come from, in the main, clubs who have had decades worth of investment available through grants etc, while we come from a position where there has been no money for serious ground improvments for eons. Once we establish ourselves as an EFL club we too will be able to access the serious amounts of grant funding available year on year to improve Holker Street bit by bit.
Those away fans that visit in the next year or three will have to bear with us, and most sensible ones I am sure will cut us some slack. If they dont, then they need to give their head a wobble and realise not everyone is as fortunate as their club has been.
As much as we would all like to have everything done immediately, unless someone wins the lottery it isn't going to happen.
Re: New Roof
Agree with the above.
Most away fans with a shred of common-sense and empathy will understand our recent history and be aware of what has been done to make a start possible in the EFL.
Some, as a matter of course, may make fun and be dismissive; no attention should be paid to them.
I disagree.EABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:52 pmIf they only put seats on the left hand side, that would be tragic and would look very sh1t, you can hear the away fans taking the pesh now, “what couldn't you afford to seat whole stand”

This is all about maintaining segregation in any need for an evacuation of the main stand. (Its an EFL requirement to maintain segregation if needed to evacuate the ground, within a certain timeframe)
Away fans seating could still be in the “W” of the main stand by doing the following.
- making it so home fans can only access / and exit the main stand through the west side of the stand turnstile and west side stairwell / exit gate only
- away fans can only access / exit main stand using the east side turnstile / exit gate.
- gate off the thoroughfare between east side stairwell and the rest of the stand.
- Use segregation netting in the stand taking out a couple of columns of seats.
- install an stairwell down to pitch side by the away dug out (mirroring the one by the home dug out) this would only ever be used in the event of an emergency to get fans out of the stand, where they could then be ushered pitch side to the east side exit point.
^^ As an alternative to bolting down 100 seats and until main stand can be extended.

Re: New Roof
You can't put wide enough segregation in without losing seats in the main stand (taking us below the L2 requirement).Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:26 pm This is all about maintaining segregation in any need for an evacuation of the main stand. The many options have been explored numerous times by the club and this is the best solution.

By best solution do you mean putting seats in the Holker Street End?JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:29 pmYou can't put wide enough segregation in without losing seats in the main stand (taking us below the L2 requirement).Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:26 pm This is all about maintaining segregation in any need for an evacuation of the main stand. Re: New Roof
I thought we may have a season’s grace, by which time we may have a bigger plan in place, to achieve the full membership by year three. Some sort of temp stand in the corner over at the away end in the interim.JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:29 pmYou can't put wide enough segregation in without losing seats in the main stand (taking us below the L2 requirement).Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:26 pm This is all about maintaining segregation in any need for an evacuation of the main stand.
