A slow watch. Blackpool quality miles ahead as I guess expected. A few glimmers from Barrow but the trialists on the whole disappointing.

Thought gribbin had some nice touches on the ball, but disappointed a couple of times when he gave up on balls. Other than that decent run out. Think danns can do a job for a year.

Of those, I'd be happy to see no. 25 (Younger, if it was he) taken on, but the rest? Meh. Most of new signings looked decent although was hoping to see a bit more from Gribben. Early days, though. We do need more strength up front.

Ash Smith Brown and Neil Danns did nothing to suggest they will be good enough - particularly Smith Brown.
Lillis is rumoured to have signed on Saturday and would be a solid 2nd keeper.
The No25 Ollie Younger misjudged a couple of high balls - but was otherwise good in the air and on the ground - worth a continued look at.
didn't really notice McGladdery or Byrom though.

There wasn't one trialist that I'd want to keep. However, plenty of promise from the players we've signed although Gibbens did next to nothing when he came on. I'd say that the team to start the season virtually picks itself as last season's team with Mike Jones and Beadling replacing Rooney and White and James playing instead of Quigley while he's suspended. Only serious challenge I'd see to that team is James Jones, who I thought looked very good.

I thought Ollie Younger looked comfortable on the ball. The two Jones's look good signings as does Beadling and Lillis brings a lot of experience to the table. I'd say we are a lot stronger than this time last season considering Platt and Kay weren't even involved. I suppose that's the only bench mark would the team we can put out now be able to beat the side that finished last season ?

Not sure who B’pool have played so far but that was their 4th outing & only our 2nd & with all due respect to HOB, You could argue this was our 1st pre season friendly proper, So we are bound to be sluggish atm until everyone has played a few more competitive games.
