Whilst Pedro's post is a bit ott, I can see where hes coming from and I really hope I'm proved wrong, but his signings so far along with his interviews and general persona have left me feeling totally underwhlemed, it's as tho he was given the job without thinking what it entails and just going to give it a go and see attitude

See how we play in our first competitive game. We had some pretty horrible performances at the start of last season. Evatt didn't get it right first time. Dunn isn't Evatt, there's no point him parroting everything Evatt said. I guess people want instant success, instant performances, instant media savvy sound bites. It's not generally how football works. Just chill out a wee bit. We've played 3 friendlies and played well enough in two of them. If Dunn didn't want the job he absolutely didn't have to take it.

As for friendlies, Barrow lost their final game in 2018 at BPA, looked hopeless (apart from Taylor) yet the following week they won their first league game 3-0 and looked a different team.

Not many that I recall. Performances were just about there and we were often dominating games playing decent football. But silly mistakes, conceding soft goals and missing chances were costing us.

I would pretty much agree with the rest of your post though.

The first match I saw last season was at Woking and how we lost that one I'll never know as they were outplayed for most of the match but we gifted them goals. Evatt always said that the performances were good even when we weren't winning and that it was only a matter of time before results followed and he was correct. Having said that, results in friendly matches are meaningless but they still give a good idea of the ability of players. Against FC United, even though the team that finished were far from watertight it was pretty obvious that overall the players were at a much higher level than the majority who started the match.

And Quigley looked awful in the last pre-season, but that turned out okay.

Harrogate and to a lesser extent Halifax at home were the two I was thinking of specifically. But to be fair to Evatt he sorted out our defensive problems pretty quickly after Halifax.

He certainly did. He brought in Matt Platt!

I think that’s a poor post by Pedro with some unsavoury (and personal) comments thrown in - and to say “I hope I’m proved wrong” after some cutting remarks is just covering your back....if he turns out to be what you think, you’re proved right, if he’s successful you still come up smelling of roses!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Dunn and Evatt are like chalk and cheese. Evo was a one off. He was a real student of the mental side of things. There was no chance of "getting another Evatt" - that ship has sailed and folk need to stop thinking Dunn will ever be "another Evatt". Dunn comes across as perhaps more old school, maybe less confident and not as "motivational" as Evatt. However, I'm sure once the real action begins and real tackles start flying we'll see the real Dunn.

"Barrow AFC boss David Dunn says a decision on the Bluebirds trialists will be made at some point this week."

Don't threaten them mate... There are a few on here including my own follower who resorts to making things up that I'm supposed to have said. Just laugh at what they are.
