I haven’t a clue why you think we suddenly have money to throw around on transfers.....where does this “financial clout” come from?EABluebird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 4:52 pm On the Joe Nuttall rumours,
From Blackpool's point of view it makes sense to sell the player with 2 years remaining on his contract and re-coup at least some of the likely £500,000 they have paid, and that would free space on their wage bill, alternatively they could hang on to him, pay him and likely get nothing back transfer-wise.
From JNs point of view he would link back up with DD - they seemingly have a close relationship and in all honestly not many clubs have the ability to pay a fee for a player except us.
Despite the COVID situation this club has more financial clout than its had at any time in the last 50 years, this doesn’t make us wealthy just in a better situation that many many other teams. We need to take advantage of that while we can. Joe Nuttall would be an excellent signing if it comes off.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Secondly we have a VERY low cost base in comparison to others in this league, many of whom lease/rent their stadiums and which are much larger and cost a lot more money to maintain
Thirdly as you will recall the owners stated that they were expecting a loss this season and would fund it which a large portion has gone on the new roof.
Fourthly we have received an amount of £250k cash from Bolton for IE plus a fee for Rooney, total £325k.
Fifthly, I would Suspect that most of that figure still remains and a replacement for Rooney still needed and a decent replacement would cost.
Sixthly so it stands to reason using the the basic information which we know that a low five figure fee is indeed possible and indeed desirable.
Seventhly I have not even mentioned the £1.2m EFL money, which is a huuuge uplift on on £85k we received last year.
So yes we are in a much stronger financial position then we have been in a long time, if ever.
I do not pretend to know if this is indeed the case it might be totally wrong, it might be half right it might be spot on, but it was my thought sequence when posting the previous post that has been shut down so quickly by the conference north set on here.

No many expenses either staff and players on furlough. Still a hit but we are still in a better place than some.whitty1969 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:03 pmGood job we have had no outgoings since march thenEABluebird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 7:23 pm

I think it’s fair to say you’ve not really got your sums right. I can’t even be bothered to firstly, secondly, thirdly etc explain where you’ve gone wrong, but you have.

Re: New Signings Rumours

Re: New Signings Rumours
seventhly season financial loss approx £700,000.
Re: New Signings Rumours
EA has made some reasoned argument there. The forum should be about encouraging healthy debate, yet it seems if anyone offers an opinion or shares a view on something that others don't agree with it gets shot down.
Thing is we don't know how much the ground works have cost, we dont know exactly how much the season curtailment cost us, how much we got from promotion / Evatt etc, and how much has been offset for losses etc. I don't know whether we applied for stadium improvement funding for the roof etc and we don't know if we are in a position to put bids in for players. These are all reasonable questions to ask as part owners? Maybe not on a forum, but perhaps through the Trust?

Re: New Signings Rumours
Do we know this or is it forum rumour? Genuine question just it’s never been confirmed or we’ve never heard what Southend’s response was to the bid or indeed the player himself.Bluebirdstwo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:28 pm Having made a £50,000 bid for Humphries from Southend we must have some funds avalible ,hardly throwing money at it more being shrewd with what we do have ..

EA. Cant say too much. But the Furlough scheme wouldn't of covered 1 weeks pay for Evatt.
What about the other 3 weeks in the month...

Re: New Signings Rumours
It's on the Southend forum , ( barrow bid for Humphries £50,000) , he's originally an Oldham lad and wanted back to northwest, Southend changed manager probably why it's gone quiet etc ..
