New Signings Rumours
Re: New Signings Rumours
I agree, Hindle has looked far better than he was last season and maybe a change in manager etc has benefited him. I can't see him being a starter tbh but if he keeps scoring who knows. I rated him very highly a couple of seasons ago and if he can chip in with a few goals that would obviously be great for us. It could be we are looking at a few loan deals to maybe bring in lads we can't find on a free so i wouldn't be shocked if they are from Blackpool and Blackburn esp if its additional firepower up front! I'd be surprised if the lads DD wants in aren't here before the Derby game or at least before the 1st league game unless hes going to use those games to assess the squad then get the reinforcements in before the window shuts in October.....

Nicky Maynard signed.
Re: New Signings Rumours
Nicholas David Maynard is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker. He began his career at Crewe Alexandra, following over a decade in the club's Academy, and scored on his senior debut in April 2006 following a successful loan spell at Witton Albion. He was named as League One Player of the Month for September 2006 and would score 31 goals in 58 League One games for the club. He was sold to Bristol City for a fee of £2.25m in July 2008. He won the Football League Goal of the Year award for 2009 and would score 45 goals in 124 Championship matches across just under four seasons, becoming the division's joint-top-scorer in 2010. He was sold to West Ham United for an undisclosed fee in January 2012 and was an unused substitute in the club's play-off final, though did not feature in a Premier League match. He joined Cardiff City for a reported £2.75m fee in August 2012. He picked up a serious injury early in the 2012–13 promotion season and was limited to eight Premier League appearances in the following campaign. He spent the second half of the 2013–14 season on loan at Wigan Athletic. He signed with Milton Keynes Dons in September 2015 and would go on to spent two seasons at the club. He spent the 2017–18 campaign at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen and the 2019–20 season season with Bury. He joined Mansfield Town in July 2019 where he was offered a new contract but became a free agent after talks broke down.
Re: New Signings Rumours
If confirmed, he seems to be a player with a good goalscoring record.
I see it was reported that Port Vale were in talks with him only a few days ago but "faced competition".

Re: New Signings Rumours
Since the quality of rumours on this forum in the close season have been pretty poor I wont leap to comment on Maynard, save to say that if he could stay fit for a season he could be a useful contrast to Quigley and has always known where the goal is during his career. Given a choice between Maynard and Danns I'd choose Maynard. Product of the Gradi academy at Crewe which has a fine record in producing EFL quality players. Though now at the other end of his career.
Re: New Signings Rumours
35 goals in the last 2 seasons is decent.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Laughed out loud when I saw this published on Bristol Live, 3/4/20- 'Former Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard has been named as one of the best players in the EFL, according to FourFourTwo magazine'.
That aside, he could be a very useful asset indeed.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Don't think there's much in that rumour. Would command decent wages.
Popular side since '03.
Re: New Signings Rumours
I wonder if Willem Tomlinson could be a target. Centre midfielder from the same Blackburn under 23 team as Dunn, Platt and Hardcastle. He then moved to Mansfield but the rumour is they have let him go due to off-field disaplinary issues.

Re: New Signings Rumours
So we started off with Humphrey, then Crosdale, then Nuttall and now Maynard. So far we haven't signed any of them.
Re: New Signings Rumours
Has been on trial at Accrington
Re: New Signings Rumours
I dont know why some are expecting many more signings. We are a keeper or two short. Sort that and offer Jack Hindle a contract and there’s your core squad of 20. Perhaps one or two loans, but cant see many more additions. No one raving about any of the trialists we had in.
