Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
Does anyone know if the season tickets have been sent out yet? I’ve not heard anything.

It depends if one of the goals of the pilot was to try and ascertain how many transmissions occured as a direct result of people attending the football match.Hadrian wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 5:07 pmWould that last point be any different from any other positive test result situation?+[ [[Kris]] ]+ wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 1:57 pm What are the purpose of the pilot schemes? To observe whether social distancing is adhered to? Will this be independently monitored? What will be deemed a success or a failure? I presume at least some supporters will be visiting shops and or pubs before KO so would be hard to identify a positive test result from a transmission at a football game.
I'm struggling to see why football needs a pilot to see if 1000 people can safely use an entrance and an exit when so many other things didn't require a pilot to reopen.
Maybe football fans have to prove themselves as they're not to be trusted.
We've had nine months to work on this.

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
There is a lot of pressure on the club, and clubs generally across the land. I don’t yet know how they are going to police it, but the rumours/suggestions are temperature tests, track and trace, masks and social distancing as organised in advance by the club. A big responsibility on supporters too, to adhere to the guidance that will come. Any positive tests afterwards could put the whole scheme in jeopardy for the foreseeable future. Gung-ho attitudes will not wash. Attending at this early stage will need a big sense of responsibility on the part of the supporters that are selected to be present. If I’m fortunate I’ll be there. It’s a risk on several levels. I’m not afraid of catching Covid, (though I’d rather not); I’m afraid of catching it and passing it on to others. Times are currently very very different to a year ago. We all need to adapt accordingly, and be thoughtful about others. The alternative does not bear thinking about. Nearly 4000 new cases in England yesterday. This is not pessimism; it’s reality. I’d say if you are lucky enough to be selected to attend, do EXACTLY what the club recommend.

Wonder if next Saturday is being used for the pilot scheme and if so will we apply for our game verses Colchester United.

And plenty of Clubs including Barrow giving players 2 year contracts when another lockdown was always going to happen, I`ve already said the league table won`t be decided on points won on the field of play but by Clubs not being able to honour contracts if and when the season ends.Walneywanderer1979 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 8:41 pm The way its going there will be another national lockdown and no fans will be returning and like you say there will be no economy and the majority of clubs will go under people will lose there jobs and there homes its looking grim

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
If only people would be respectful and considerate, rather than selfish and reckless then all of us would benefit, and we could all go to watch matches with club sanctioned controls. Those that think they know better, and are bored and out of their comfort zones because it’s all gone on too long and they are fed up of it need to realise that it is a world wide problem, and 9 months plus in there are aren't any answers. The I don’t care mentality is very very dangerous for everyone.

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
It was only a month ago we were being told it was our patriotic duty to go to the pub and we were encouraged to go to restaurants and pubs with financial incentives. And to get back to work. And to go shopping. And could meet up in groups of 30. The month before schools and universities reopened. It's probably not surprising there's been a spike. People were only doing what they were advised to do. And now we're doing a hand brake turn again.
The vast majority of people are following the rules. Thankfully there aren't that many conspiracy theorists / covid deniers out there. Although they do seem to shout the loudest.
It's disappointing that more work hasn't been done to safely open football grounds before the season started with pilots for friendly games. Especially as everything else with a card reader got the green light. Football grounds could be as safe if not safer as anywhere else, as you're pretty much outdoors.
For some optimism, treatments for covid are getting better. Deaths in hospitals shouldn't be as high. We might not necessarily need a vaccine if the virus can be successfully treated. Hopefully it's 1 to 2 years rather than 3 to 4 before it's all over.

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
Perfectly reasonable post but you've hit the problem on the head with your last comment about treatments... Lock downs are/were never based on Covid deaths but the uptake of hospital beds especially HDU/ITU beds.+[ [[Kris]] ]+ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:38 pm It was only a month ago we were being told it was our patriotic duty to go to the pub and we were encouraged to go to restaurants and pubs with financial incentives. There are approx 4,500 ITU beds in the country and in normal (no pandemic) times the occupancy of ITU beds is 3,500 to 4,000 with more beds used in Winter.
If there is to be another national lock down it will be to try and avoid the suspension of elective surgery and treatments triggered by no spare hospital beds and not Covid deaths.
