Re: New Signings Rumours
Hird was a good player. He struggled a little last season until Platt came in, and was then transformed. Unfortunately age is catching up with him. He lacks pace now. Anyone can make a mistake as he did for Newport’s second goal, but not a reason to bin him, though I think he was found much more wanting for their first.
Re: New Signings Rumours
If you look at the past 4 results we held Derby and Blackpool who are far better opponents than Stevenage and Newport to 0-0. We've made 2 mistakes in 2 league games and been punished for it but if you cut out those silly mistakes then we'd probably have at least 4 points now. We have a solid defense esp when Platt fit. Kay and Quigley obviously make us far more an attacking threat and we've missed all 3 of them in the league games. We are only 2 games in, we don't know what the best 11 is yet (well i dont because sone of the lads haven't played yet) Theres 2 weeks of the transfer window left, we don't want to lose anyone unless we have a replacement ready but from what I've seen we do lack a more creative midfielder but like i said it could be one of the lads whos not played much yet. We don't have the firepower if Quigley missing and obviously Rooney goals from last year will be a miss because Hardcastle wont score as many as that. Lets face facts, if the lads score anywhere near as many as last year we'd finish in the top 4 no problems but i think its gonna be tougher this season but we probably could do with a lad who would offer a difference whether thats scoring goals or assists (is there one available?) DD might be happy with his squad, theres a long way to go yet so im optimistic we'll do well esp with a fully fit squad to chose from.

Ok maybe ‘out of his depth’ wasn’t the right turn of phrase.
Perhaps ‘not good enough at this level anymore’ would have been more appropriate.
Maybe he’s just had 3 poor showings and things will turn round.

After today’s news about fans not returning I’d be forgetting about new signings, and just concentrate on the squad we’ve got completing the season

Agree that we won't be able to afford to pay for any more players but there is still the possibility of loan signings from a higher club where the higher club pays all the wages. This is done in many cases from Championship clubs who want young players to gain experience at senior level.PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:27 am Nobody else is coming in with now money coming in work with what we have got crack on.

No more spending. It's a case of how long clubs can last without income. Interesting to hear what PH says tonight.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Good article. It does give hope that Rovers are looking to send these players out if and when they are able to. Just not yet. One of them may have our name on him. Meantime we haven't even been able to put out a full strength side with what we already have. Personally I'm happy to wait until we've done that before adding loanees to the squad. If that takes another few weeks so be it.Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:17 am https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/s ... oungsters/

Re: New Signings Rumours
Few teams in EFL2 still recruiting players so some clubs obviously seem financially ok atm. I still think 1 or 2 will come in on loan because Football is still continuing with or without fans in the ground yet. So we need to pick up points just like everyone else will. Fingers crossed with Quigley in the team we will look a totally different team to the last few weeks.
