"Higher than almost all other clubs"

"One of the highest" - top 6, top 8, top 12???

And I guess you could spin it to say it shows Barrow take the problem seriously and take effective action.

What a load of nonsense. The headline doesn't even equate with the text. Banned from "more games"? Has the writer counted them up? Neither does she say whether those 8 were all issued last season or whether they were existing orders from previous seasons.

The writer's interpretation of data is, shall we say, circumspect. She says "Disorder was on the rise across the top 5 divisions...". The government's figures show that there has been a continuing downward trend since 2011. At 1st August 2019 there were 1,771 banning orders in place; at 1st August 2020 it was 1,621. On the rise?

It's a template article that almost every local paper seems to have used in the past fortnight - no attempt to explain the figures or find out what they represent.

They will all be old banning orders, so it's misrepresentation of facts.

For example, the Grimsby paper says they were one of the worst behaved clubs in League 2, but they only had three new banning orders - the other 46 are from previous years.

Meanwhile, in South Wales Newport County (with 6 current orders) are hailed as "the best-behaved supporters in Wales"! Lies, damned lies and statistics. :D

It doesn't even make sense, starting with the first sentence "More Barrow fans were banned from the ground than almost any other team..". Gibberish.

How would you see that as different from any other paper in this day and age?

Well a decent journalist might at least have been able to spin the story into something with a shred of authenticity or relevance. This one actually contradicts themselves in the strap line! Which based on the content should actually have read something like

"Number of banning orders for Barrow fans not very good though not actually the worst in the NL. But far worse than Borehamwood, nothstanding the fact that 10 times the number of people turned up for a Barrow game than at Borehamwood. Anyway Police are very worried about the increase in racially motivated incidences like that very nasty one at Hartlepool last season, err...though none of those actually involved Barrow supporters"

Did you copyright them Ian. Might be a daft question. Not sure how these things work. But anyone publishing another person's photo, story etc has to have permission from the owner of said item.

To be fair, I took a very similar photo to that. Stood in the exact same position and I couldn’t help capture the shear euphoria generated by the Barrow fans.

It could well be my photo, as I’ve seen it used on various social media platforms.
