Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Could be an interesting one to watch dependent upon how many have been infected and how wide the level of exposure.
As matters stand I believe that those infected would have to isolate for 10 days. Those in contact with the infected ones would have to self-isolate for 14 days. During this time no collective training would be allowed. From the Wimbledon statement it sounds like the entire squad might be out of action.
If of course the infections spread amongst the rest of the squad then those isolation periods can be reset. The second round is due to be played on 28th November only three weeks away. If further infections were detected in the days ahead, it might become difficult for Wimbledon to fufill the fixture before the next round due date. They would probably end up putting out a very under par squad at best. I'm not sure the FA would be that happy with first round games taking place after the 2nd round games were due.
Either way, there may be some beneficial effect for us if and when they do turn up - as long as of course we haven't caught a collective case of COVID.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
There have been FA Cup ties in the past which have taken place on the date of the next round due to weather postponements.
(Already announced that match passes bought will be valid for the rearranged date.)

But what if after they’ve been given the all clear we have a few positive test results....this could potentially put this tie nearly a month from its original date. This could cause absolute havoc with fixtures down the line.
Surely at some point the FA are going to have to look at how this could affect the various leagues.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Yes there are a couple of interesting possible scenarios. One where the Wimbledon squad isolate for the much of the required period but then suffer a further outbreak which forces them to isolate for a further subsequent period that takes them beyond the second round date.spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 5:13 pm But what if after they’ve been given the all clear we have a few positive test results....this could potentially put this tie nearly a month from its original date. The other would be as you said if in the days leading up to the rearranged tie Barrow were forced to isolate for the same reason. Clearly having allowed the tie to be delayed to accommodate the Wombles there would be the same expectation for Barrow which could then take the tie beyond the second round date.
I suspect the FA in their usual way currently have their collective heads stuck in the ground hoping that this will not happen. It could get chaotic however if several clubs suffer these problems and you can foresee a potential lottery somewhere down the road.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
From what I gather they only get one chance to rearrange and if it gets called off again then the tie will be called

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Presumably if Wimbledon 'do a Dover Athletic' on the day of the rearranged match and get held up on the M6, Barrow would get a bye to be second roundIlford Mouse wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 2:22 pmDoes that mean the game can only be called off once or is it once per team?
It could open a whole can of worms if the Barrow players have to self isolate, or if it gets called off again for other reasons (waterlogged pitch or match officials being delayed by a road accident for example)

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Wimbledon have put out the following statement on their official website
Following further Covid-19 testing across the club and some positive results, we have decided to implement a circuit breaker, and all staff and players will now isolate for two weeks for health protection reasons.
This will mean the home fixture against Wigan on the 14th Nov will be postponed until an appropriate date in the future.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
At the end of two weeks, when hopefully the positives will have recovered, one wonders how long it might take to be in a position to resume football at a 'normal' level of fitness.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Club website now has this as Thursday 26th November.
Surely we can't still be playing Oldham on the Tuesday, then this game, then possibly the 2nd round (on the Sunday perhaps) and then Morecambe still on Tuesday 1st?
Madness.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
It would make more sense (if Oldham agree ) to change that date to 8-12-20 and move the F.A. cup game back to replace this fixture !

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Having won all 3 games they won their Papa Johns group and the next round is Dec 8th so they are unlikely to agree to that Nige sadly.

Re: AFC Wimbledon Game
Don’t think it is at all fair that we should have to play the wombles between the tuesday and Saturday games. Why should we be penalised and put at a disadvantage ?Not our fault they had covid issues.one of the league games should be rearranged . Whoever is club fixture secretary should take this up with league.

We don't have a Saturday league game,if we did beat Wimbledon we would play Crawley on the Sunday or otherwise a free weekend.liverpoolann wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 4:54 pm Don’t think it is at all fair that we should have to play the wombles between the tuesday and Saturday games. Why should we be penalised and put at a disadvantage ?Not our fault they had covid issues.one of the league games should be rearranged .
