I for one am not advocating any changes yet but this is a hot topic for discussion so I feel it warrants its own thread.

At the bare minimum, he has got to change the system as we just aren't doing enough to win games. Three goals tonight and we still lost. There's no belief we can hold on to a lead and game management is non-existent.

The consensus on here over the last few weeks is that we have been playing well, but we don't have a decent points turnover to show for it. If the last few weeks are close the the maximum this squad is capable of then there's only one way we are going.

I was sceptical about the appointment but was (and still am at the moment) prepared to back him but I can't help but feel after Evatt left we should've took stock and looked at experience, after all, it is our first season back here for 50 years. People will argue Evatt had no league managerial experience but at least we were on the crest of a wave. I think the recruitment process will come under closer scrutiny if we show no signs of improvement.

Yes. This is what i'd like to see. Not financial suicide by changing the whole management team.
4 at the back. One sat in front. Two in the middle. Two out wide and a main striker in the middle. Or some variation of that.

Most people on here weren’t overly convinced when we appointed Dunn, most people still aren’t overly convinced by Dunn. However finances probably dictate we are stuck with him
Something needs to change, the 3-5-2 system isn’t working this year. Even at half time today, that should have been the cue to change to 4-3-3 or something after that dreadful first half

16.67% win rate as a manager. Allegedly he was the only applicant who was actually interviewed. Personally I don’t think the board would be so unprofessional. Massive balancing act required by them now...don’t blink too soon.

His record as a manager both with us and Oldham plus a short stint as caretaker at Blackpool is nothing short of aweful. Long and short of it is he simply hasn’t won many games. Regardless of performances it’s a results business so this is what managers should ultimately be judged on.

I personally felt it was a gamble going for him in the first place for the reasons stated above however was and still will back the team but I’m not convinced he’s a manager.

His signings have been really poor so far, our squad is quite obviously weaker than last season in the NL. We lack drive, pace and leaders on the pitch.

I don’t think he will be sacked as we prob can’t afford to and will carry on struggling, winning the odd game here n there and prob just about have enough to stay up, praying there’s two teams worse than us!

Been waiting all season to get inside Holker Street but after tonight I just feel deflated..........

Looking at the table

Carlise are 6th have a goal difference of 6 more than us, lost 5 games - same as us and there are several teams above us that have similar goal difference records and similar amount of losses. Yes we have drawn a lot and thats why we aren't further up the league. We have played some great football in spells this season but how many silly pens have we given away ? (4?) How many last minute goals do we concede? I've lost count of the goals we give the opposition from terrible passes. Jones and Hardcastle would be starters and they aren't available which isn't helping. Biggins is not Rooney and not even on par with Hardcastle. Kay has missed games through injury, suspension and covid so hes not getting a decent run. Quigley missed most of our games too. We were poor tonight but i thought the last few weeks we've been good (apart from some of the goals) is Dunn the right man ? I would give him more time tbh, the formation? Possibly change it for FA cup game and see as no one will expect us to win.

Dunn is not a manager, full stop! His record proves that he isn’t. If he was in charge of the team from now until the end of time things would not improve. So It’s not a bit of good people coming on the Forum and advising that he should do this and that to improve things when he himself has little or no idea what to do. It’s one thing being knowledgeable in football theory...but if you can’t turn it into football practice on the pitch, then it’s time to call it a day. And as to it being financial suicide if the board send him down the road, I think it will be financial carnage if we stick with him and end up back in the National League.

I guess the difference between the Evatt and Dunn appointments is where we were as a club; you can justify a punt on a young manager with limited experience as a lower-budget National League club, but as a newly promoted League Two side with a number of experienced (and realistic) options available?

However we are where we are, Dunn isn't getting the sack any time soon so the best thing to do is support him and hope that results pick up.

I want him to succeed, he comes across as a nice guy.

All we need to do is stay up this season so we get the efl money to help our finances and help build a better squad and a steady
improvement for next season when hopefully things should be completely back to normal regarding having full capacity in use in stadiums. I don't think its financially viable to sack dunn not sure if he on a 2 year deal which won't be cheap to pay off probably on 2k a week yeh his record is poor but I reckon there's 2 worse teams than us in this league

That record isn't good enough.

However he has over a year-and-a-half left on his contract and that would need to be paid up if the contract was terminated (to the best of my knowledge... there may be a clause that we are not aware of). So if he's on ~£1,500.00 per week, that would mean paying ~£125,000.00 in compensation. It's a lot of money and the manager who replaced him wouldn't work for free.
