Fair comment, probably me nervous watching through fingers.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:41 pmIf Quigs was nervous (really?) then the last thing he should do is try some clever, 'trick' penalty.

Nothing wrong with that team just lacked luck.

No player goes out to play badly.
They played well for 120 minutes and even Premiership and England players miss penalties. It happens.

Thought it was a relatively decent performance from our current fringe players. Sea and Wilson have done enough to warrant contention for the league games, the latter should at least be above Zouma in the pecking order.
Still frustrating to lose on penalties though. I spotted Quigley's penalty floating under Jubilee Bridge.
We should at least be fresher for Morecambe where we really need to start picking up some decent points in the league.

Popular side since '03.

Manager said they have identified and worked on some of our defensive frailties and will continue to do so. Overall pleased with the performance, felt we could of had a couple of penalties in the game, but ultimately disappointed to go out on penalties during the shoot out!

I don't think a lot can be read into tonight either way. Two sides of fringe players that cancelled each other out for the most part.
Biggest positive for me was probably the performance of Wilson. I've not been a huge fan previously but I thought he was excellent tonight. Didn't put a foot wrong defensively and used it well when in possession.

Fringe players but a few have staked a claim for more game time. It was a better performance than the Oldham game all over the pitch which we all needed to see.

I love watching Gribbin, a left-footed maestro. His slick passes and ease on the ball are a joy to watch. Only 21 with huge potential and he's always asking for the ball. I can't quite figure out what's missing to make him the complete player that I believe he could be.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:40 pm Played well enough tonight against a L1 side. Not massively bothered about the penalty result. Need to firm up in the league now, and get supporters into the ground as safely and efficiently as possible.
Gribben is an enigma. Capable of opening up the opposition, but doesn’t seem interested in doing the hard yards essential at L1/L2 level. I so want him to be good because he obviously is talented, but just seems a bit louche as a footballer. Only plays with the ball. No bad performances though. Still very hopeful for the season.

There is me thinking it was only Maradona who had been on drugs,we should have had two penalties he stated ,we had 5 and could not win and not for the first time.McMark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:50 pm Manager said they have addressed and worked on some of our defensive frailties and will continue to do so. Definitely played better but at the end of the day another defeat.
Time for him to walk the plank,he makes Norman Bodell look competent.
3 wins in 19 competitive games
His record to date means he has the second worst record to date since 1901 ,only Mickey Moore won less

Good performance. I thought we looked more solid defending the flanks with the change in formation with the wide forwards tracking back support the wing-backs. If we stick with this formation that will open up more opportunities for Reid and Sea to get starts. I was a bit worried about having just two in central midfield but Chris Taylor and Gribbin did well and we weren't overrun.
All of the defence played well after a shaky opening 5 mins. Hird and Wilson in particular but Zouma was also much improved from Tuesday.
I wouldn't criticise anyone today, just a shame that we bottled another shootout.

Some good effort and performances out there tonight especially Wilson and Sea who looked hungry to impress.I bet Biggins still gets the nod against Morecambe though but feel we would be a real handful with James,Sea and Quigley playing together with Kay and Brough in support.Up to Dunne I guess but there’s no time for nepotism when we have some good hungry players waiting in the wings.

Solid enough performance minus the 3 minutes at the start!

Played really put a shift in, very composed on the ball. Needs to back himself and get on the front foot more. If he can play in the final 3rd with confidence I think we will see goals and assists from the lad. His best performance of the season by a distance there is a talented footballer in there hope tonight is the start for him.SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:07 pmI love watching Gribbin, a left-footed maestro. I'm fed up. Just need a win. and for what its worth we'd have got a little more money in the bank with a win and the televised live highlights on Sunday afternoon. So yes I'm fed up.
