New manager - Who do you want?

Serious question: what would people do/want if Kelly takes charge over the next 3 games and we pick up 4 points?

Or put another way, what would Kelly need to do/show in order to get the position full time?

Financially this would be the best way to go but only if results match.

Whoever it is, we should take our time. Have a proper application and selection process. No rushed appointments. No mate appointments.

This is a bit out there, but Tom Huddlestone is without a club at the moment, and he has his coaching badge. Probably a bit risky getting him in as player / manager with him not having much experience, but could be a good opportunity to get him in as assistant manager / player? He could get into the management game then while hopefully performing for us on the pitch too! Depends a lot on what wage he’d expect tho I imagine - might be out of our price range

In an ideal world, with any pick, I would go with Cowley although I suspect he will be after a League 1 or Championship level club.

I would also like to see the ex-Wigan manager Cook be given a go - again I suspect the finances may not stretch to this.

Dream land with those shouts I'm afraid, especially Cook who will be awaiting an offer from the Championship - which will soon come. Far too good of a manager to drop back into League One, never mind League Two given the success he's had.

Interested to see if the board are keen to appoint someone who will continue the Evatt brand once again or simply look to someone who will get the job done suitably regardless of the style of play.

Again, will we look to someone with experience and know-how of the division or look to someone up and coming?

I can’t see us matching whatever Salford are paying Alexander (unless they paid him off but I doubt it). McCall is a bit of a clown. Cowley is unfortunately out of our league.

Would take a Pennock type to get us through to May above the drop zone. Re build in summer.

Laddo at boreham wood always comes across well. Play good stuff.

Alexander is currently on Job Seekers allowance Salford binned him about a month ago.

now is not the time for taking any gamble, if it's a short or long term appointment we have to have, due diligence this time , we have the nucleus of a decent team just needs a couple of additions, whoever takes over the players will feel like it's a breath of fresh air, let's all be honest the situation couldn't have carried on !

Hurst, Flitcroft and Alexander all have decent EFL records. I like the style of football Garrard of Boreham Wood plays but it would take a bigger job than ours for him to relocate to the North. Wilde of Halifax has a good record with limited resources and Tim Flowers did a good job at Solihull. Whoever we get will be a big gamble just as Evatt and Dunn were with vastle different results.

Not going to be easy for the board, they’ve made a bad decision in Dunn and this time it has to be right, financially we can’t afford to be paying a new managers contract and then letting them go and having to pay out again if it’s not working (on top of Dunn’s pay off). We also don’t have the luxury of time imo as better to get the new boss in ready for him to assess what he needs come January to strengthen and hopefully get us in a better league position. I don’t envy the board but fingers crossed they get it right
