Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Easily the worst performance this season. Disjointed, nothing created, terrible set pieces, nothing in the middle. To not create a decent chance against 10 men and allow several clear cut chances at the other end is just not good enough.
Midfield is creating nothing at all and Quigley is spending more and more time dropping deeper and deeper.
Lots of work to do for Mr jolley and it needs doing fast

Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Most telling note of the day was the first minute of commentary from Southend that they had finally “found a way” to get results and noted that Barrow appeared to setting up as they had done all season and “look where they are with this approach” absolutely nailed it with that comment.
If he doesnt “find a way” for us we are going down no question.

Why can’t we play the percentages as well.
Kay is not a corner taker.
Hardcastle should take the free kicks on the edge of the box.
At least let’s give ourselves a chance of scoring.

A lot more than this is required.

I agree that Kay looked like the only one capable of creating anything by running at them. But no one ever made a run or created anything off of those runs so they fizzled to.nothing. everyone else just looked content to pass sideways or backwards.

Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
I feel totally depressed deep down i looked at the line up and there's not much there, we miss Barry Big time , he's a massive plus in the team , Quigs needs support we also miss jones in midfield, people slag biggins off but at least the lad can pass a ball , I hope jolly has good contacts because we drastically need to change this but like others I fear the worst surely the worst thing is if you can't get fired up for a game like this what f****ing chance have we got?
Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
If we had 62% position in the first half then after the econd half that must have been more than 80% overall and created absolutely [SwearFilter] all. No creativity and no runners off the ball. It's like watching a bloody training game when we have the ball. Yes, Kay probably worked the hardest but they had him sorted after 10 mins once they knew he was going inside all the time and in general it's all too predictable. Early days for Jolly yet but he has a lot of work to do repairing the absolute [SwearFilter] Dunn has made of recruitment.
Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Not saying that it isn’t. But there are plenty of other poor sides in this division that create more chances than we do by making better decisions.

Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
I'm afraid the 2nd half performance was nothing short of shambolic. Even our good players couldn't pass the ball to each other. Time after time defenders passing simple balls straight into touch. Players mis-controlling the ball, standing on it and leaving it behind when running with it. Absolutely awful. I don't think we'd have scored if we had played all day. We've now played large portions of 3 matches against 10 men and have lost 2 and drawn 1 of the 3. Even worse, the body language is terrible. No fight at all in the team bar 1 or 2 players. Unless things change very quickly I'm afraid this team is bound for relegation.

I'll agree with you about set pieces. Kay's corners are poor and Biggins and Beadling waste far too many free kicks.
Hardcastle was a free kick taker in the absence of Rooney last season. If my memory serves (which it often doesn't) he can take a decent corner too. Why isn't he getting a look in now?
On the point raised about body language, it looked like the team of a few weeks ago before Dunn left. The fight and body language was excellent the last few games. What's happened today? Just didn't look anything like the team who played Cheltenham, port v and Tranmere.

Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Really really disappointing that; great chance to pick up points in the second half but we played even worse in the second half than the first half. Ten men Southend had better chances than we did, we didn’t even trouble the goalkeeper.
We are desperately missing a goalscorer and a creative midfield. I get slated every time I say this but Luke James isn’t a good enough striker at League Two level, I very much appreciate his work ethic but that isn’t enough. Josh Kay had plenty of the ball but does the same thing every time, and his delivery was woeful (as was everyone else’s) we keep the ball and go sidewards but it’s far too slow and it’s not leading to anything. Hardcastle and Beadling again aren’t creative players, they can keep the ball ok and cover for the defence but that isn’t enough. We miss Barry down the right as well, again (similar to James) Connor Brown does ok and seems a nice lad but isn’t league two level if we are all being honest

Just because we won the league with him there doesn't make Kay a left back. Rather see him further forward.
