Barrow v Cambridge match thread
Re: Barrow v Cambridge match thread
Seems bit bizarre, we beat Cheltenham 3-0 at home in Dec, Jolly joins and it’s quoted as saying he didn’t want to change the team a lot, seeing as though we just convincingly beat a good team. Now almost two months later the team has changed dramatically and we lose 2-0 at home by a much better team. 0.o

Thats why he signed that clause in his contract the jump and run oneJonty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:43 pm There is no quick fix. Some of these players may not improve anything and Jolley will be prepared for that. The biggest challenge is finding a winning formula with our big squad. I believe it will stay tight (within 3-6 points) around the bottom 4 all the way in. Then we need to be the form team going into the run in.

He has never played the game at a decent standard. Did a Post grad diploma in Sports coaching at University and worked through his coaching badges. He is obviously a good talker and carries himself well all the attributes you need to get through an interview process which he did for Barrow. He had been out of the game for a while and nobody appeared to be in any great rush to employ him since Grimsby.nationalman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:53 pm its the manager who's to blame, no game plan,no tactics, clueless in my opinion
Interesting to hear Paul Hornby after his appointment waxing lyrical about Jollys interview. Was it a case of bullshit baffles brains? I hope I'm proved wrong but i suspect this man might be a charlatan who will take us down at great cost.

Bit early for talk of sacking Jolley or him being a failure.
Let see where we are in May.

+1.mickycarrol wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:42 pm Jolley just stated on RC both Ndjoli and Goodridge were both fit and available today but he wanted them to watch from the stands to get a feel for how we play.....wowsers they must be confused to [SwearFilter] after that shambles.
We are DESPERATE for forward thinking players get em on the pitch and try and score a goal ffs. Attack is the best form of defence I’m sure the saying goes?
If you don't score, you can't win, draw at best, not enough to save being relegated.
I'd rather lose 2 - 3 or 4 - 6, than 0 - 1 or 0 - 2.
You can't score if you don't shoot. Seems we're depending on Penalties to score. Our corners and free-kicks offer no threat of goals.

I'm more worried about relegation with jolley in charge than i was with dunn in charge, the team is getting worse every game in my humble opinionMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:09 pmHe has never played the game at a decent standard. Re: Barrow v Cambridge match thread
Like going back six weeks...but with different players.
I like Devitt, Eardly looks good but as things stand the rest don’t look to be an improvement - some slightly worse.
A bizarre starting line-up and some equally bizarre substitutions. No idea why MJ thinks Jones isn’t up to it, no idea why he wanted our new striker in the stand watching...I bet he wished he could’ve brought him on when chasing that game.
Let’s just hope this was a bad game to judge us in as we were playing a very good team.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Would anyone agree that the main difference in the two teams today was a 38 years old creative midfielder who was at the heart of everything Cambridge did. Absolutely fantastic performance from Wes Hoolahan, totally bossed it.

You are spouting crap man-the team is going to take time to come together. You know that, I know that, we all know that.nationalman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:20 pmI'm more worried about relegation with jolley in charge than i was with dunn in charge, the team is getting worse every game in my humble opinionMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:09 pm

Get off the managers back and give him a chance to get it right.

Re: Barrow v Cambridge match thread
Mike Jones must have a serious injury. Not seen since Nov, could do with some presence in midfield.
Everyone keeps saying we will stay up, we will come good, but we're in February and the only evidence of us staying up suggests it will be by about a point and more thanks to two others being bad than us being any good.

Popular side since '03.
Re: Barrow v Cambridge match thread
Im just making a point- age is not a barrier to quality. We could have done that sort of midfield creative pivot today and Hoolahan was at the heart of everything they did going forward.Matty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:32 pmI assume the last sentence isn't serious.Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:24 pm Would anyone agree that the main difference in the two teams today was a 38 years old creative midfielder who was at the heart of everything Cambridge did.
