Salford Match Thread
Re: Salford Match Thread
If you take the individual error out of the game from the young kid who was otherwise very good and your pleased by the link ups between the 4 full backs like the manager was then you could see on another day we could have ground out a 0-0.
Unfortunately I just can't see us nil nilling ourselves to safety. We truly have regressed to an old fashioned 1990's 442 side. Long diagonal to the target man or the long channel ball over the top of their left back. We've even added some Coxesque tactics such as the goal kick to the wide midfielder with Brough taking the Liam Hughes role and a long throw that isn't that long.
I've never seen Quigley so quiet and ineffectual, these tactics just don't suit him, which makes the changes so baffling.

Re: Salford Match Thread
Start with full backs in front of full backs and a tactic of hoof it to a 5 foot striker and a striker who doesn’t jump
Christmas come early for their centre halfs.
Bobby Thomas week as p!ss. Play Jones.
Drop Quigley, play new lad.

They want us to stay up in the first place but we are making a mess of that...Reginald wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:19 pmWill depend if the board want us back up, which I'm sure they will.Chris Benoit wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:15 pm I am resigned to the fact that attending the win over Cheltenham and a draw with Tranmere is as good as its going to get for seeing Barrow play in the EFL. I have absolutely no hope that we will recover from shambolic recruitment and we won't ever get back up. Depressing.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

I imagine Jolley is laying into them like they're a bunch of BBC Radio Humberside journalists.ossickbluebird wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:42 pm Getting sick of watching us play now. Aimless punts forward to one striker who can't, or won't jump and another who cannot win balls in the air against 6ft 3in centre-halves. Regular mistakes at the back which other teams just don't make, a midfield which has almost no creativity at all, and a manager who will probably go in the dressing room after another "unlucky defeat by the odd goal" and say never mind lads, our luck will change soon, dust ourselves down and go again A small part of me blaims the board for going for a punt, Dunn, in the most important season in our history but I genuinely think Hornby really does love the club. I still think we'll stay up, but I'm increasingly thinking that's my heart ruling my head. Sad times indeed.
Not yet seen anything from him to suggest he knows how to set a team up or inspire confidence in players.

Hear me out for this one- Take away the one mistake and did we look overrun?, did Dixon have to make any last ditch saves?- no. It was an effective performance against a top 5 side who have conceded less goals than any other side in the league. Yes I want us to be more creative but we are are in a relegation battle and don't expect anything other than more of the same.
This is the way its going to be so we either back it or give up on it.

Re: Salford Match Thread
If they weren't a goal up, Salford would've stepped it up second half. As it was, they didn't really have to do a lot for the three points - they won't have many easier games this season.Jonty wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:50 pm Hear me out for this one- Take away the one mistake and did we look overrun?, did Dixon have to make any last ditch saves?- no. I'm hoping we get back in Holker street next month so we can do our bit again, its sterile atmosphereless and uninspiring at the moment
Re: Salford Match Thread
I think we would have lost that by a much bigger margin earlier in the season. Take the mistake out of tonights game and there was nothing in it.PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:55 pmWe have nt improved under jolley.Jonty wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:50 pm Hear me out for this one- Take away the one mistake and did we look overrun?, did Dixon have to make any last ditch saves?- no.
