It's becoming more clear to the day that the personnel on board (through no fault of their own) don't have enough knowledge for the playing side of running an EFL football club - surely someone with a football background is what was needed in the CEO position? That's no criticism to the current one as he's no doubt doing the job to the best of his ability.

disagree through no fault of their own ? of course it is ,the alarm bells should have been ringing after the first few weeks of the season! they should have done their due diligence on managers before appointing Jolley, as they should be doing now for life in the National league, looking at the top 6 team's there and if needs be taking / approaching a top manager, whose won / got team's promoted out of that league!we have to start being ruthless footballs changed dramatically over the last few years we need to adapt and adapt quickly!

I'm as pessimistic as everyone but planning for the national league with 20 odd games to go and us 1 point from Southend? Are you on valium?

Just listened to Jolleys post match interview on RC and he was quick to point out that the attitude of the players was not right, his job to get those players wanting to win games.
He mentioned how we had only won 2 games before he arrived........ he should not be looking backwards but forwards. You could tell he was angry and I do think he needs more time, but if he can't motivate the team he's not a football manager

The q and a session coming up should be interesting. I hope a lot of points raised on this forum get raised.We could end up with a roof and fans own bar as our souvenirs of our efl journey.Unfortunately unless we get rid of our disappointment we will lose a lot of disillusioned fans.We can all see the mistakes made but need to correct things quickly if to stay up.

The thing is, we weren't far away before he came in. We had just beaten Cheltenham 3-0 and were competitive in almost all the previous league games, often only losing by the odd goal in tight games. I don't know why the board went for a manager who wanted nine new players as opposed to a manager who wanted, say, three or four new players (which is all we actually needed). Changing the squad to such an extent has been disastrous and we've gone backwards, in terms of results and performances.

Then there's the issue of Jolley's volatile temperament that led to his sacking by Grimsby - to me that hardly seemed like the type of guy to inspire unity amongst the squad. A wiser appointment would surely have been somebody without such a questionable character. He comes across as arrogant and the sort of person who easily rubs people the wrong way - what we needed was a manager who would increase the confidence of the group and get everybody fully behind him and fighting for the club's survival, not somebody who alienates good pros.

The whole furlough thing and the unceremonious discarding of experienced and respected club men (J Taylor, Hird, Brown) who are useful players shows a complete lack of respect and an inability to manage people. That move will have done nothing for morale in the squad and is just the sort of thing I feared from Jolley when I heard he was appointed. He was not the manager that the situation called for.
