Re: Grimsby's last FL visit to Holker Street
Bump for anyone who missed it first time round. But please don't start the house price discussion again!

Dare I suggest this might be Grimsby's last visit to Holker Street?
Don't let the old man in.

Harry Thompson in goal, what a guy I remember as a young lad stood in the Holker street end watching Harry clapping to the chants of the crowd about him and occasionally hanging off the crossbar when play was down the other end , what a character.

A regular in the Ormsgill Hotel, I think.

Doubt it. He died a good few years ago.

No need to apologise. Most of The Ormsgill's regular patrons are apparently deceased. Even as a youth I was warned of its terrors and advised to go to the Ambrose instead.Cubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 6:04 pmSorry for my misleading comment. I meant at the time to which Jeeby refers.

Ha ha! I will never forget the bloke behind the bar threatening us with a starting handle at ten past three one afternoon. All we wanted to do was play the free game on the pinball machine. Was the first time in my experience that 'drinking up time' had been so strictly adhered to. We subsequently went for a quiet drink in the Union Jack!
