Just couldn’t get going second half, no lack of effort but it just didn’t happen but that wasn’t through lack of trying. Getting Calvin up to speed in training as lacking game time. But certainly a threat and option. Hopefully know more in a couple of days re Hardcastle being absent.

I think Rob Kelly has to give some players a rest tonight and we were going to have a banana skin and Grimsby were it.Neither team played that well and it was very atritional.Calvin Andrew looks a good signing.Lets hope Saturday is different. Please don't blame Rob for tonight's result, you only have to look how he has turned Barrow around. Apart from that one wonder goal I don't think either side looked good tonight. :scarf:

We have put ourselves in a position now where our football league destiny is in our own hands and that is all we can ask for!💪

At least you have had confidence Kelly will have identified what went wrong tonight with regard to selection. Jolley would have been disappointed with the 1-0 defeat so would have selected another defenders for Saturday.

Criticise him? Certainly
Call him a tool? Definitely not!

Think we can all agree that it was the wrong line up tonight, that’s easy to see. Dust ourselves down and go again Saturday. We couldn’t dreamt of being in this position a month ago.........

What is it in Southend's form that suggests they are going to turn around an 8 point (if you include GD) deficit in 9 games to stay up at our expense? If it's anyone of the bottom two that's going to make a run it's Grimsby. Then there's nothing in recent results to suggest we aren't any worse than Walsall or Colchester either.

I dunno, lose the next couple while Grim sby and Sarfend possibly pickup points and, maybe even fluff our games in hand through panic maybe!.

If barrow get 8 more points that puts them on 46. Southend would need 14 points from 9 games - probably 15 due to barrows goal difference. Grimsby would need 15 or 16 with goal difference from 10 games. Both of these are unlikely.

That is not unattainable. We have seen tonight that we are by no means safe. That gap can easily get closed down. Put it this way Grimsby and Southend wont think its out of reach and we shouldn't either

Why should players need resting?

They are professionals getting well paid.

Imagine going into your place of work and saying 'I've been working really hard lately, so I think I'll take some time off'.

Thought Kelly was a bit hesitant tonight when Adam asked him about injured players supposedly on their way back, as if they might be on their way out!
