I hope the fund raising might help Lewis study for a new career.

In case some are not familiar with his story, this is an article about him. Inspirational stuff.

His book is good, although Barrow only get a few lines in it.

Fantastic story given where he was brought up in the middle of the troubles but I too was a little disappointed that his time at HS was just skimmed over (basically a former teacher (?) telling him after the Trophy Final that he was wasting his time with us). Interesting on a similar subject I read an article in an Edinburgh paper that Bobby Burns (ex-Hearts if you were wondering) is studying at the Open University on the chance that his injury at Glentoran - a double leg-break - finishes his career.

I'm not a big reader of books but I read 'The Boy on the Shed' and it's enthralling. No wonder it's won such acclaim. Well worth a read.

To be fair he wasn't with us that long, but he played in the 1990 Trophy Final. I also thought that in his book he was playing down his achievements on the field.

His health hasn't been brilliant since he left us either: https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life ... 16908.html

Apparently pre-match today Lewis Hardcastle was presented with a Stevenage shirt with the name Hardcastle on the back. Also pre-match all Barrow players had shirts with Hardcastle on the back.

If only the team had played with as much guts and endeavour as LH did, we'd be fine
