If they end up promoted though I can't see him swapping the premier league for a L2 job

Aye, but how much impact does any assistant have on a team's success? Rob Kelly was assistant under David Dunn and Michael Jolley - and we were absolute crap. Just think taking on an assistant as manager is a complete leap of faith i.e. gamble. Do we really want/need to take that gamble again?

Yep you are right in that. Although I've not seen any names linked who wouldnt be a gamble in some way.

Indeed. Every managerial appointment is a gamble to some extent as all managers have failures on their CV. I'd just like to see someone appointed who has had some decent level of success in L2 (play-offs) and maybe even the odd promotion to L1. For me an assistant can often gain a reputation on the coat-tails of the manager. I'd rather see someone coming to HS who has lead a team to success - even if they've then had some down seasons (as all managers do).

Neil Ardley fits that criteria IMO. Did well with Wimbledon established them in league 2 got them promoted to league one in the play offs
