To be honest bingo, the clubs in the best position most of us can ever remember, but some supporters still have to be critical about everything the club does, negative, spineless people sadly.

saltcellar wrote: Mon Jun 14, 2021 12:35 pm A lot is being made about John Rooney leaving Barrow for more money and not wanting to play in the football league.
I'm not sure those were the reasons he left the club.
Barrow made Rooney an offer the same as Stockport had offered.
My understanding was that Rooney left Barrow because of his wife working shifts that meant he had to look after the children.
He seemed to miss a few midweek matches for Stockport.
Which is fair enough. However, I'd imagine it sort of boils down to the same thing i.e. in the EFL you would be expected to have overnights - some clubs even do it for home games when there is no distance to travel. If Rooney couldn't commit to that he's better in the NL. That said even Barrow had overnights in the south as the NL has a lot of travel. Whatever, good luck to him at Stockport or wherever. Barrow has moved on.
Time to end this obsession with Rooney. It's as boring as seeing Prince harry in the news every day.
Have you ever thought what a wonderful world it would be without enthusiastic people.

Have a soft spot for Stockport having lived behind Edgeley Park for a while in the 80s

Despite efforts to change they’ve retained a boom and bust mentality. Having endured so many seasons in depression and penury they have unfortunately drifted back onto the path of spend, spend, spend as soon as they managed to find somebody to back them.

Their purchase of Paddy Madden in the January window for £250k demonstrated how recklessness has been used to satisfy a desperation to succeed. Their squad is very well paid, probably too rich for most L2 sides and are now effectively locked in for a further season. Despite Rooney protestations about stress he also made it plain that Stockport was a convenient place for him to be. This also applies to others in their squad. Convenience is not the same as ambition or determination. That’s how you lose to a.team like Hartlepool who have determination and ambition in spades.

Like Stockport Bradford City have the same arrogance borne of a myth about the size and importance of the club that feeds into overspending on decent players who’s priorities don’t necessarily match their clubs ambition.

Really? Wow! Explains why they didn't take him off despite being terrible.

a bit of a controversial suggestion but Enzio Boldewijn right sided midfielder/winger has been released by Notts County - with their fans thinking he'll end up in EFL2 (or a lower EFL1 team even). Probably best remembered by Barrow fans for giving the ball to Dior Angus to set up our 2nd goal in the 3-0 win at Notts - but scored a few goals and a good crosser of the ball. We didn't really have a right sided midfielder last season and Brad Barry who played there part of the time hasn't committed to the club yet. Thoughts?

With centre mids the priority really; tbh we need two that you would plan on starting alongside White
Assuming that Cooper is planning on playing some form of 4-3-3 with him saying about Kay playing a different role
