Great game (24 - 24) and atmosphere, at least 500 raucous fans down from Workington, plus lots of women and kids showed up at 1pm for pre-match women's rugby. Seems like 1500 had a pint of draft in their hands, the tils were red-hot. "Bar and sundry income (burgers, etc) outstrips gate receipts and has put us in a strong financial position"- Chairman Steve Neale. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoons family entertainment in warm sunshine and I forgot about the virus and life's headaches for a few hours. Will be back next Sunday. :D. PS: The fun level is increased when you're unbeaten and top of the league. :D :D
thought this was a barrow afc forum ? why oh why do people keep harping on about whats going on at barrow rugby ? if you wanna talk rugby im guessing they have their own forum , so please toddle off onto that , thank you

You have missed the whole point of the post. It was to show what can be achieved by the other professional outfit in this town, given a little entrepreneurship and determination. They have dozens of keen volunteers behind several bars, not a problem. Granted, unlike the Soccer, the Rugby can use Craven Park for both games and on-field hospitality and thus cater to 1000's, whereas Holker St field is off-limits. But to close the much-heralded, yet much-smaller, fanzone, due to 'no staff' (seriously..) at the start of the Euro's in warm, dry weather (£1000's of income lost) doesn't bode well on the enthusiasm factor alone with the new Season starting soon. BTW: You'd have thought the Cross Bar Brewery supplier could have installed some draft beer pumps pronto, but apparently not, for whatever reason, which I may have missed. APOLOGIES: This post should be on the Fanzone Closed thread.
