We are football league now not a Unibond club, how many times have the club said we need to increase our revenue streams etc this last 18 months? Perfect chance to do so and we aren’t bothering

It would have better for me if I'd have bought my first house with cash, but I didn't have the resources and so I had to get a mortgage which cost me a lot of money in the long run. Unfortunately you have to take a hit or two in the real world.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Never had one before. 7 weeks in the job
If we can't open the fanzone what chance do we have?

Re: Fanzone Closed Till Bolton Match
That’s a shocking outlook. I’m a BAFC supporter and I want to support my club in any way I can, that includes putting money into the club through a perfectly good facility that we simply aren’t getting the use out of. People can see other venues getting sold out and taking money right left & centre….we should have been all over this and that’s what people can’t understand.Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 7:57 am For all the ones moaning, go to the rugby ground or holker for [SwearFilter] sake. Personally I would’ve been looking into getting two of those vans with the screens on, one for the fanzone and one for the west terrace, that’s possibly 300-400 hundred people pouring money into the club.
It’s simply baffling.
As things stand we’re now starting from scratch at the Bolton friendly with staff who will have had no training for any refreshment area of the ground. Now what could possibly go wrong….
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Fanzone Closed Till Bolton Match
The fans feel let-down by false promises and false hopes:
Bluebird Trust Statements re. Fanzone:
May 5: 'ALL of England's Euro games'. (June 11 - July 11 potentially). FALSE promise.
June 25: Because out of the blue. "We're taking a break", 4 days before a mouth-watering game v Germany game! Fanzone Closed.
Harry Gornall appointment Hospitality Manager:
May 13: Harry will immediately take on responsibility for overseeing, promoting and delivering events and functions at the stadium. He operated as Food & Beverage Manager at Blackpool FC having worked his way up from bar staff to Bar Manager. GREAT!
Chief Executive Levi Gill:
June 26: "Fanzone keys are now with Harry Gornal". England are playing on Saturday in the Quarter Finals. Fanzone Closed.
Only update I can find on Harry and his 7 weeks of activities is a promo shot of June 11 on his FB account. Nice.
The communication and planning between the Trust and Harry leaves a lot to be desired. Huge missed opportunity, not likely to be repeated anytime soon.
You've disappointed a lot of fans eager to spend money and get the Club off to an enthusiastic start to the season. Shame, someone has dropped the ball, and it's NOT the Rugby!

As John McEnroe would say - "You can't be serious"! People put photo's on their public (not private) Facebook account so that anyone can see them and then share them with others. That's what they want as that's the whole idea of FB.

Re: Fanzone Closed Till Bolton Match
We feel the need to clear some things up:
Yes the Trust said we were going to open for all the England games however during the 3 games it became apparent we just didn't have the resources or capacity to do so. We can only apologies that we couldn't deliver what we wanted to.
The events were volunteer run and we struggled at times to get enough because most were football fans who want to watch the game themselves. We also found enthusiastic amateurs are no substitution for technical knowledge and experience if challenges or issues happened.
The Fan Zone never had the potential that we are seeing done successfully elsewhere due to the size and limited covid capacity.
The digs or issues aimed at Harry are unfair. He is working extremely hard to restart multiple facilities (Crossbar, Corporate, Fan Zone, Food Outlets, Away Bar etc) that have lay dormant or deteriorated since March 2020 including brewery agreements, food suppliers, purchasing equipment and employing staff. He has a huge task to get all of this in place.
This is alongside most of the main building being a building site.
We are happy to discuss any of this further, please get in touch with us at info@bluebirdstrust.co.uk

Re: Fanzone Closed Till Bolton Match
Fair summing up of situation some points of which which some of us had guessed was part of the problem. Those who still wish to comment can do direct to trust. If we can’t get enough people to volunteer hand with masonry painting what hope had trust getting more people to help in fanzone.Lot of work being done at club at speed on various projects.Things will work out ok .If as many people volunteered as moaned we would have no problems.Just think maybe trust statement could per haps been made couple of days ago before the thread started getting personal.Give Harry a chance in his new job,

Re: Fanzone Closed Till Bolton Match
Reminds me of the famous "do you think we need the money" debacle.
Surely to Christ we can ship up some beer, handful of temp bar staff to open for literally the biggest England games for generations.
Slight tangent but this is a common theme of the club not being the easiest to spend money at.
Even last season in the shop, and it appears to be the same now looking at the latest images, is that there's actually little in there, just rows and rows of the home shirt.
Just basics surely, new bar is great but get it bloody open. New shop extension is great but get it bloody stocked full of stuff for fans and kids to buy every week.
