If Quigley wants to go and is kicking up a fuss then let him go. What’s the point of having a want away player at the club? Get a wedge for him and let Cooper invest it back in the squad 👍🏼

I mean, if he is, then great... But, he's not camera shy! I can only assume that he's playing hide and seek with the photographer.

The fact that Quigley may be in Scotland means very little. Either he’s back with the squad permanently which I doubt or he’s in play - meaning that there is a bidding contest going on and we are awaiting the outcome.

If he didn’t train he’d be in breach of his obligations. So he might as well avail himself of the clubs facilities. On the plus side it suggests that he’ll go for more than the minimum. If there is a release clause in his contract the club don’t have to accept the first bid if they think they can get more elsewhere. In theory he could end up having to consider an offer from a club he might not want based on what they are prepared to pay (us not him). Interesting stuff.

Commenting on pure speculation: dangerous. What sort of professional manager discloses confidential details to a supporter ? None and certainly not Mr Cooper

They seek him here, they seek him there,
The Barrow fans seek him everywhere,
Is he in Heaven or is he in Hell
The management know, but they won't tell.

Is he in Largs with the team for a week
Or sitting at home with a muscle tweak,
Or refusing to play 'cos he just is unhappy,
Or doing some deal with a Tyke or a Taffy?

No use to speculate for soon we will know
Whether Quigs will stay or Quigs will go.
The only way we may be sure is
If he turns up at Spennymoor.

Not sure that’s correct

Usually if a club offers the ‘release’ fee then the current club by default have to ‘accept’ the offer and have to allow the player to talk to them

The player can of course turn down that offer and hope another club meets the release clause but I do not believe that the selling club can refuse an offer at the level of the release clause
Some people really do need to think a bit more before they post things on here

Should always do the research first Stephen. You are correct. If there is a release clause in a contract ( there are other types of clause that sometimes look like a release clause but aren’t) then by meeting the stipulated amount in the clause a club would be duty bound to accept it. Even if a second offer were made that was higher.

In reality what happens is down to the player. He doesn’t have to accept a move if he doesn’t want to. The problem can occur when a player sets his sights on a particular club but then has the release amount triggered by a totally different club that he might not want to go to. Or offers personal terms that are more attractive than the preferred club Then things can get complicated.

I’ve no idea how this actually maps on the circumstances of Scott Quigley contract. That’s his business. All I would suggest is that given the length of time this speculation has been ongoing things don’t appear to be panning out in a totally straight forward way.

Actually spend a few minutes thinking about it and you can come up with several complicating factors. Heres an obvious one. Player has a theoretical release clause in their contract of say £150k. Another club comes along and offers £150k but offers it in three instalments over two years. Has the release clause been triggered or not?

Probably depends on the wording of the clause, but any club would be stupid not to consider such a scenario when it wrote the damn contract in the first place.

Does anyone know if there's actually any truth in these rumours, or has the "story" just spiralled out of control from the first mention of Quigley maybe on his way - which all stemmed from him missing a friendly & not being seen in a few photo's. I'm sure there are others in the squad that don't appear in said photo's.

Financial fair play squashes the rumoured price imo.

if there wasn't anything in it Quigs or the club could soon put an end to the speculation, it doesn't help with Quigs praising another manager on twitter which seems bizarre if he's "so" happy here !
