Club to go to cashless payments

As a suggestion could someone from the club Google the most deprived areas in the country. They will find Hindpool & the town center near the top of the of the page for child poverty. Bought a season ticket wouldnt have bothered if I knew this so called progress was going to be enforced.

As a Veteran from the old 3rd/4th Division days this is a huge blow, i only deal in cash, i go out with a set amount that i know will last me the day, its too easy to keep waving a card around then getting a shock when your account is overdrawn. Maybe its the way forward but its to much to soon for a few of us golden oldies, lets have a realistic transition period please PS. Does this mean the end of blanket collections for Charities etc?

Personally not bothered as I prefer to use a card, and can easily survive a couple of hours without the need to eat and drink. However I can see that others are upset and that it might cause problems for some groups of supporters, so I was just wondering….

- Did the Club carry out a review to assess the differential impact of the policy on different groups and whether it leaves some disadvantaged or even discriminates against them?

- And if they did, can the Club publish the conclusions for all to see?

Yes a conclusive & extensive review was undertaken but sadly the fag packet it was written on was thrown away

Hi I’m a new member to this forum. Been a Barrow fan since I moved to the town. I have read his forum for a long time but never registered until now. The real reason, is that the club get charged when paying cash into the business account. If they go contactless they will save a lot of money. Anyone with a business account know that the bank charges for paying in cash.
I don’t agree with the cashless as it stops some of my family from watching the football. I was going to buy 3 season for me and my kids next week but now I’m unsure.

Don’t let 1 hasty badly thought out decision put you off attending games

I agree, I’m unhappy about this decision & it will put people off & I can’t believe the club pushed this through without any consideration for the fan base feelings.

Barrow Eats - Order drinks for the fanzone to collect at half time, allows staff to pour pints just before the whistle and alleviate ques. Nothing to do with catering food ironically.

Delish - Contract ended, Delish didn't want to renew. Believe they want to focus on their shop and other food rather than churning out pies. No issues between the two parties, just not continuing the contract.

Sounds good but if 200 pints are ordered then it sounds like chaos and flat pints to me. And queues to collect pre paid pints

I think the main issue here is probably not whether a more cashless approach is going to be brought in - it’s the timing/speed/lack of consultation/lack of understanding/ crassness re the FX card situation etc shown in the decision

If they had said we will start trialling certain things as cashless over the coming months with a view to moving fully cashless by the end of the season then I think more people would have been ok with it

a few days days before the first match is not the time to drop this bombshell and then to seemingly make it an issue that the trust and SLO are dragged into without knowledge or consultation is even more damaging

I think a quick statement of acknowledgement that it’s not been handled well and is being rethought might be sensible -

1. He didn't inform the club's SLO.

2.He didn't inform the TRUST

This decision is discriminatory. It discriminates against people that for whatever reason cannot or will only use cash. While cash is still legal tender it should be excepted everywhere, otherwise you are locking people out. It becomes a barrier. I believe this will effect attendancies and it will effect the income take in the ground.

The lack of consultaion on this is breathtaking. Why didn't they do a fans survey like the ifollow one to gauge peoples views.

It feels like it has all been put in without any consultation with fans or gauging fan opinion. I presume there are board meetings to discuss these proposals. At the board meeting there is a Trust board member who I would hope would be part of these discussions and who would bring it away to get fan opinion? At least to suggest a transitional period. In fact I’m sure he would have voiced reservations about this. Has this just been decided by the CEO?
