"He was a great player, a great guy and a really good dad."

Watch our video interview as boss Mark Cooper opens up on an emotional week for him and his family, and looks ahead to Saturday's game at Stevenage.

I've never heard that from a manager before - "you would want these lads with you on a night out so theres no trouble."

Left field but I think I know what he means!

Glad MC could draw comfort from the many tributes to his father Terry in what must of been a dreadful week for him and his family.

It is hard to speak publicly when emotions are raw. He held it together brilliantly.
His dad was a fantastic footballer in the golden era of football.
RIP Terry Cooper.

Yes - good interview, and you can hear him pausing, and see him thinking of other things. Spot on for doing it and well held together.

Yes, of course, all sympathies go out to Mark in this current situation and he has handled things very professionally which rightly deserves all our respect. But it is good that he has his role to absorb him, the worst thing at this time would be a vacuum where he has too much time on his hands to dwell on events. His Dad, Terry, was a sensational attacking left-back and I'm only surprised at how few caps he won. That England team that played in the Mexico World Cup of 1970 is regarded by many as being even better than the 1966 winning squad and I well remember we had full-backs hell-bent on getting forward, Terry being a prime example but also the likes of Keith Newton and Tommy Wright. It was certainly a very, very good England team that Terry starred in during that tournament.

Worth noting that three English men were selected in the FIFA team of the 1970 tournament. Banks, Moore and Terry Cooper. That’s how good he was .

Interesting what he revealed during his first conversation with Scott Quigley.

Yes. Underpinning most football careers is an understandable selfishness. Be wary of the badge kissers.
